5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I drove a 2010 Camry SE V6 the other day and said to myself:
"Wow, the gap between the door panel and dash looks huge."
This is the part of the door panel that touches the dash near the left driver and passenger vent.
So I got back in my 2009, happy with my tight gap on the drivers side in my car. Then I look at he passenger seat, which has a much larger gap in the same spot. It appears as my entire dash from the windshield to the knee air bag is pushed left a bit. I only notice it where the door meets the dash.
Now the door does not hit and it appears to not cause any issues, but I was curious if anybody else has this difference in space?
The car has never been in an accident or hit anything for that matter.

I have about equal gaps on the right and left on my dash. You can't expect good fit and finish from a domestic car maker so don't waste your time and nerves. They'll never get it right unless you buy a Lexus or German brand (minus VW).

Then i guess i won't be getting a Gen 6.5 or later Camry!
the last 5 Camry's in my family were built in TMMK. The 00, 03, 05, 08, and now my 2010. None of them have had any issues. Where as my uncles 2002 JP built XLE V6 needed a new starter, alternator, throttle body and a few other misc. parts. It has about 77K miles. Just recently his CEL, trac, and stability dummy lights went on. Its all luck of the draw.
