Gen5 HID's will not work anymore. Please help.

Hey everyone,

So I ordered a kit from Mod-Express (Great Company & Service) and here's the deal.

When they came in last week, I installed them myself under the supervision of two professionals who have been doing it for years. The passenger side worked and the drivers side did not.
So I put the halogen back in, and called Mod-Express and explained what happened, they were very understanding, no questions asked, and immediately send me a new bulb that day.

So the bulb came in today.

I swapped out the halogen and gave it another try. Once again, I was under close supervision, and I even wore latex gloves. (BTW, I did not touch the bulb both times I did it)

It still didn't work.

So I swapped out the ballast with the other ballast, and neither worked.
Then I swapped them back to the original setup, and once again, neither worked.

So I checked the wiring and relays and fuses, and even went as far as to but both halogens back in, and the car wiring is in perfect condition and the halogens work great.

So now I am here with no working HID's.

I am stumped, and the professionals are stumped, and my friends who have all done their cars are stumped.

Only thing I could imagine is that it is drawing too much power or something? Maybe I should hook up the relay harness?

Any thoughts???

yea try the relay. it's not the bulbs or ballasts so it's got to be with the power/wiring. strange though that it's just the drivers side. to me it sounds like drivers side is either getting not enough, too much, or is not grounded.

If the pros are stumped, then they're nothing more than a rookie.

Did you try to get new ballasts? Take out the relays and see if it works.

I don't need any pro supervision when installing my HID.

BTW, my not-so-expensive kit works with no problems for 6+ months now.

I recommend getting that relay from them, it's like $10 but it will draw it's power from the battery and the stock pigtail will act as a signal to the relay to use power from the battery..don't ever run HIDs on stock harness, get the relay.. I'm in a process or rewiring a friends HID Kit from Mod Express..he had his done without the relay and it could melt his harness or mess something up. It's weird how yours doesn't work, just try the relay first.

Remove the hid kit (the none working side) and try it outside by itself see if it work (use the car battery as power source).

Goodluck.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their input.

Today I finally found that blasted relay harness and hooked it up.

YAY THEY BOTH WORKED!!!!.....for about 5 seconds...

Out of nowhere, the drivers side light went out..

Needless to say, I raged.

Angry and upset (and late), I slammed my door and left for the event I was late to.

Still, only one worked.

Then, I was driving around and came to a stoplight and noticed the reflection in the car infront of me of two bright HID's

THEY WORK.....magically

I love them Thanks again everyone for the help
