Gen6 Lexus IS250/IS350 18" Wheels on Black Gen6 (56k)

So, after going through a set of 19s already, I just decided to go with a more comfy ride with 18" wheels, and caught a deal for these wheels that I just decided, why not.

These are:
18x8 +45 (Front)
18x8.5 +50 (Rear)

Tires are Kumho SPT 235/45/18 all around.

I used a 3mm spacer in the rear, since +50 was very close to the strut with the tire/wheel, but maybe upgrading to a 5mm or so would be a bit more flush.

Lowered on TRD springs only, yeah, the rear sag is evident enough. Coilovers is a must.

darksparkz,

How well the Gen6 wheel cap fit on those IS wheels ? any mod need to be done to the cap ? other than 5mm spacer needed for the rear, that all you need to get it roll ?

Thanks,
TT,

I keep seeing people referring to "the sag" with the TRD springs but I have to be honest, looking at your pictures, I don't understand what they are talking about.

Are people referring to the fact that the gap in the rear is less than the front? Because this is totally normal. The car isn't supposed to have equal gap...yes you can get it with coil-overs but it's actually not optimal for handling.

Anyway just curious. If all people are complaining about is the gap I'm not worried.

To go flush with +50 you should get 10mm or 15mm spacers pre-studded.

Center caps fit perfectly actually, but yeah, to be more flush, the +50 offset needs to be a +35 or so at least. But without extended studs or larger spacers, a slight +3mm is enough to clear the strut for the minimum. Now the +47mm is a bit tucked of course.

I got them off Club Lexus classifieds because I'm on their forums since I have an IS300 too, typically people from Lexus forums, my.is or CL, or even craigslist may have them available. These wheels keep more of an OEM look to the car.

I was just aiming at getting a bit more traction with the 235 width and the stickier summer tires.

The sag is typically referred as the difference in gap for front and rear, which is about a 3 finger gap for the front and 1.5-2 finger gap for the rear. I've had these springs on for over a year already, so they've settled in.

Most people do like seeing a more even drop, since most lower their cars for looks, rather then handling performance on a Camry. Some even get polyurethane bushings to raise the rear a bit to even it out.

i agree with getting bigger spacers(10-15mm). also you can just drop in the coil spring booster until you get coils so the drop is even.

I found a set of IS350 take off wheels at a local deal, they asking $800 plus tax, they think it's a stealer price, but I'm ain't, rather pay abit more for choices on aftermarket, so I'm passing on.

Yeah a little too much, I'd do the same.

Thanks for the clarification, that's what I figured. Kinda silly...to me the "un-evenness" looks *right*, not wrong
