Parking Brake Adjustment

2002 Toyota Camry LE

Guys, I'm new to this site, so i apologize if this question has been posted in another thread, but I'm short on time and the sun is setting fast.

I just swapped out my existing front rotor and pads, with new, and i swapped out my existing rear shoes with new.

The car rides beautifully, but when I pull the emergency brake my tires don't lock up as I would like, but rather the car will coast to a stop. So the E-brake needs a little tweaking.

This is the last link in my brake upgrade. I have the tires back on right now, but tomorrow morning I'll take a look at it again. My pictures of the rear brake assembly don't show the E-brake cable very clear.

I can't recall if there is a threaded nut on the end of the cable or if its a pressed fitting on the end of the cable.

Also it doesn't have to do with shoe adjusting set screw, right? I was tweaking that assembly over and over, in order to get the drum on snug. The E-brake cable should have a thread that you just move up the cable right?

Any thoughts?

Don't know if this will help, but on my '98, the adjustment was in the console, under the shifter.

...Sweet, thanks for PDF, it cleared up a lot for me. A picture is worth a 1,000 words.

So the clearance is right-on accurate.
I never adjusted the E-brake lever within the car, but I'm guessing that if i loosen and then re-tighten the adjust and lock nuts, as shown in the attached picture, that should tighten the entire cable, thus rendering a tighter feel when i pull the lever, correct?

Currently, I have to pull the entire length of the lever. Whatcha think.

+1^^

Although I have the foot pedal, the same type of adjustment is what got my E-brake nice and snug after I replaced my rear pads and rotors and got the shoe clearance set.
