Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
hey, like most of you, i like to punch the gas sometimes, and drive a little crazy...
but on my last car, you could pull the seat belt all the way and it would click as it retracts, and lock. it doesnt do that, all the other seatbelts do. is my seatbelt broken? or does it come from the factory like that?
i dont like sliding all over the seat lol
thanks.

If you pull the rear seatbelt out all the way, it will engage a ratchet mechanism as it retracts so you can't pull it out. This is for installing child seats.

^on the driver's seat?
i thought that's what the op was complaining about- that it doesn't have that feature on the driver's seat, but it does on the other seatbelts.
Oh in that case, Camry doesn't have this feature. Possibly not even the front passenger since I've not tried it. I know the three rear ones certain do because I use them to secure cargo sometimes.
But even if the did have the ratchet mechanism, it would require extending the seatbelt completely and then it would not be allowed to extend which is not a useful feature unless you are trying to secure something for the duration of the trip such as a child seat or other cargo.
