5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
The original Michelin - Energy™ MXV4® S8 tires on my XLE V6 are reaching their end of life. The car has over 48,000 miles. I did a search on new tires. The BFGoodrich - Advantage T/A tires cost almost $50 less per tire. Will they last as long as the Michelin's? I feel that the tire life depends on the kind of car too. So I like to know from my fellow V6 drivers what kind of tire life do you get? Thanks.

I also have the Toyo Proxes, And I'm at about 15k miles...and they are about shot (Maybe 1-2k more miles to go) And although I LOVED the way these tires performed...I think I am going with something else this time...Pirelli Nero/Eagle GT/Kuhmo Ecsta.... What do you guys think?

For better comparison check the Tread Wear Rating. The S8 has IIRC 440, which means it should give you approximately 44K miles of service. And you got that.
Of course, this rating is based on a standard road surface.
I'd just get the S8 from Costco. Better road hazard warranty, nitrogen service, free rotate/balance, many locations, and mount using torque wrench.
There are a lot of cheaper tires around, so I'm sure they work too. But I'd stick with Michelin.

You can also check tirerack.com for reviews. For example, the following is the first comment for the BF Goodrich tire.
Initial Review, 600 Miles on Tires

This tire replaced Michelin MXVs. No problems with handling or performance in dry and wet conditions. Road surface imperfections are significantly more noticeable - the Michelins provided much better isolation. Fuel economy may have suffered a little bit. It seems harder to manage over 20mpg in local driving than with the old tires. I haven't driven enough highway miles to check whether I can still average 30mpg.
Y do u care how many miles? No tire got 2 b used 4 more when 3-4 yrs after the production date - tires r getting dry and loose the grip. Stock tires usually are not great, not even good. According to my research in 16" Camry size 2 tires r worth the attention General Altimax HP $82-87 ea @ tirerack and Michelin Pilot Exalto $116-129 @TR (For the first time I agree to CR about the last one )

I asked because for my previous 2001 Camry V6 I replaced tires twice within 65k miles.

my original bridgestones had 31k and were toast. My Michelin Primacy's are lasting quite well. I had one Energy tire for a while but it wore out way too fast.
I'm a fairly aggressive driver and also live in an area with a lot of high speed roads but a lot of traffic also. My original tires lasted about 28k miles. Don't know how long the new ones will last though...
