Is it 5speed w O/D or is 5th O/D

Hey all just picked up an 09 LE I4 auto trans. Love the car so far and I am digg'n this site as well.
I havent driven the car enough to tell but I am wonder if the trans is 5 speed with O/D or is 5th gear considered O/D?
I did a search but didnt really come up with much.
Thanks
Shane

Fifth Gear is considered the O/D.

Congratulations on your purchase and Welcome to TN. I hope you stay awhile.

Is there a button on the side of the shifter? It should disable it if you push it. That's how it works on my 5th gen. I hate it, but it does save you gas.

Disabling O/D by pushing the button does not save gas because it prevents the car from engaging 5th. Some cars won't lock up the torque converter unless it's in overdrive which results in more loss -- I don't know how your cars are setup though.

Overdrive means that the input to the transmission is lower than the output side.

No button, but you can move the shift lever into fourth gear with just a quick slap.

Sorry, I worded that wrong. I meant Overdrive saves you gas. What I noticed is that it keeps you at low rpms.
