Mycar is damaged by stone, so i decided to have Paint Protection Film. I realize that there are two types of them which are 3M and Lamina, I would like to know that which one is better?
3M is more well known for their Clear Bra. However, it will be pricey for a full protection since its kind of like tinting a window. Clear Bra and labor can cost between $600-$700. Just bumper is about $300.
my friend got the clear bra done on his car on my local detailer.. this included front and rear bumper, headlights, half of the hood and mirrors.. it came out to be 575 total

I bought film from ebay, but it accentuated the stone chips more. It's best to have put the film on when the paint is in good condition.
I don't know if a professional job would be any better once you have the chips.
Net, my dad has been asking me about this for his XLE.
Are you happy with it? has it discoloured etc etc?
I plan on getting it as well after a new "mod" is complete in May.

i talked with some guys in paint industry about this. better to just repaint bumper every once in a while. the film does protect but depending on brand etc the paint under the film still could get damaged and require repaint. i just keep my paint plain.
Well that gets expensive lol. Plus as the car gets older paint matching can get harder. hence why i'm not just repainting the front end. **lets cat out of the bag**
We're talking to a guy that does custon bug guards too, trying to either get a white or clear one made..cause the smoked ones are ugly on a white car.

I have 3M on mine. Very happy with it! Had it done in 2007 -- no discoloration, no problems -- but, yes, too pricey.

Here is a recent photo of my car with the 3M clear bra which has been on my car for over 50K miles. However, because I wasn't taking the photo for that purpose, and because it is clear , it is a little difficult to see. I added an arrow pointing to the part you can see. I hope that helps in your decision making.
