Check Engine

Today I just noticed that my check engine light was on. I took the car to autozone and got a free checkup and they said it was my speed sensor... Have anyone have this problem before. I just got the car about 1month 1/2 or so. I dont think that it should have happen that quick.

Anyone out there had that prob?

Is your car new or used? Year, miles, model/flavor?
Have you done any brake work, or tire work, or installed a new electronic piece of equipment (stereo)?
Have you checked your fuses?

Details are very helpful, as to clues.

The Camry uses 4 wheel sensors, part of the ABS system & stability control, if equipped.

its a 2009 camry bought it new with 5 miels in it. I did put some custome wheels in it but I dont think Thats the prob. Also I just installed some HID's the other day, but the engine light did not turn on till today. All I know is that today I went to Englishtown, NJ and the ligjt went on ( Checck Engine) Then I went to Autozone and have them check it and they said it was the speed sensor. After that I parked the car for 30mins at home then started it and the light was off. But im still going to tack it to the dealer just incase.

thanks

It should have stored the code, and the dealer can read it and SHOULD be able to correct the problem, on the first attempt......
A loose connection at any wheel, or a problem in the ECU area or the IPC.

You didn't see the speedometer needle jump or sag?

New car, make the dealer fix it, make them note the problems on the service order properly, if it isn't correct, have the reword it.

KEEP COPIES OF ALL PAPER WORK..........

It's not easy to confirm where the problem was generated, but new car seems having some strange problems when they happened there, dno't worry, probably they will be combined to smooth with your further drive, or it's better to change new one as the supplier's promise.

Bigger wheels don't. Bigger (or smaller) tires in overall diameter does effect the speedo.

thats what i think he ment lammy. i'm 100% confident the wheels are not the problem. only way i think they could be is when they were installing them they broke or disconnected something but theres really nothing there to touch when removing wheels/tires that can make the light go on. i think it's a factor defect.

You're right, bigger wheels doesn't always mean that the overall diameter will get bigger.
