What about the stripe aka banner on the top of the windshield , tinted to the mark AS1 line with 5 % ,, that may help a ton with the sun glare during the day

50% is not as noticeable as 30%. However, having a dark interior and dark tints on door windows make the front windshield look even darker.
So if you have 20% or less on your windows and 50% or less, it will look really dark. But if you have light interior, it wont be.
Having entire front windshield is illegal in any state. You can only have the top 6" tinted. Prescription windshield tinting is possible when your doctor certifies that a medical exemption is desired.
I got pulled over after leaving a friends house at like 1am. Cops made a u-turn and followed me for a mile or so before pulling me over. Asked for my info and took out their meter to measure darkness of tints. Asked me if it was my car too (the blvd I was on is known for racing...so they probably thought I was one based on the looks of the car). They got in the car, pulled up next to me, handed me back my infos and told me to get tints fixed and left. Yea right!
