The OP should tap his lights into the doorlights so whenever the doors open, then the footlights come on. Either that or make a switch for it. I know a user who had it on all the time, and it got super annoying.

yeah i was planning to make a switch for it. keep looking, but i keep missing it. its probably right in front of my face and i don't even know it. i'm going to be asking one of my friends later today. so lets hope he can find it. haha.
Maybe the I4 has a plug somewhere in the firewall. I hope so. The V6 doesn't have any easy access. When I needed to to run wire I spent an afternoon with the new car on jack stands with flashlight in hand and fingers feeling everywhere they could reach up and down the firewall. I gave up. Took it to a stereo shop that installs this sort of crap all day long. Guy quoted me $25 to pull the wire through the firewall. He saw me as a sucker for paying that much for a simple job. I saw him as a sucker for only asking $25 for a job that I had played with all afternoon. Ninety minutes later and 4 phone calls to other installers, he had the wire routed through the steering knuckle boot, down and around the hydraulic lines and up to the battery. I took care of the rest of the fun of installing fuse holders on pos and neg sides and getting the lugs soldered up, then getting the zip cord back to the trunk for Anderson Power Poles.

I don't know how you could have had so much trouble with this. There's an obvious rubber boot with a bundle of wires on the passenger side that goes through the firewall.

Yep seriously, you can tap into numerous power sources inside the cabin... no need to go around poking fingers thru holes, trying to see if they'll go in

Sometimes tapping into a power source inside the car won't do the job. I deal with rf issues in that tapping something inside would not provide adequate amperage and the right voltage, and if it did, it would bleed alternator whine. Sometimes you have to go to the battery which eliminates all these issues.

I looked at my fog light wires today and they are run through a rubber boot where a couple of hoses come through, i didn't pay attention to what hoses they were though. I have an I4 so i don't know if you have that on the V6.

Well I have a V6 and I don't know about anybody else but it was quite the pain in the ass to finally get my power wire (Battery to amp) through the firewall and find a hole that would work. In case anyone runs into the same issue, I have a 07 SE V6 and yes the large rubber boot way up right of the steering column above the foot pedals with the large bundle of wires is the correct grommet to pass through the firewall. I definitely could not see it from the engine bay until I got a stiff wire through and felt it with my hand. It took me a while but I noticed there was already an empty hole in the rubber grommet perfectly sized for my power cable going to my amp. Since it was tough to squeeze anything through I used a small piece of coat hanger and got it through from under the dash inside the car rather easily. I then twisted that coat hanger onto my power wire in the engine bay, (the fuse prevented me from doing it from inside out) firmly wrapped the twisted wire & coat hanger in electric tape and greased the tape and wire with oil, after that pulling the wires back through the grommet hole with the power cable was a piece of cake.
