Anybody install a Kenwood DNX-9140 headunit in their Camry? I'm going to do an install this weekend...
krouchchocolate has had his installed for almost half a year. I got mines installed last month. check the second page of my cardomain link for some pics.
make sure you upgrade it to the latest firmware as there are a few bugs in the navigation program that kenwood and garmin need to work out. kenwoodforums.com is a great place for info in regards to this unit and its installation. i just uploaded the red light camera locations and speed sensor locations across the u.s. on to my 9140 from that website.
I think he was referring to me, I live close to Wesley Chapel...in LOL (Land O Lakes) Florida
But anyway...I'll keep this thread updated with install pics, comments and product reviews.
Where did you guys mount the GPS antenna?
Oh and Dhanlal89 once installed PM me if you want to meetup somewhere and check out the final product...Brass Tap at Wire Grass Mall
mines is atop the center of the dash nearly touching the windshield. never lost connection and always get 5 bars of reception. had 4/5 bars when it was raining the past few days here in long beach.

Thanks, that's where I'll probably mount mine...
Here are a few teaser pics...I got the headunit in today from AudioSavings but Crutchfield dropped the ball and shipped all the extras on a slow boat...
What do you guys think of the bezel...it's a little different than what Metra offers...
I'm hoping to get the rest of the parts early next week...as soon as the all come in, I'm taking the day off and putting this thing together...

np. that bezel looks good. although i usually prefer the flush look of the metra kit, this one also looks clean but a little more aggressive in making the kenwood stand out a little more. what brand is it?

I don't know I got it in Japan, at sort of a flea market...only cost me $8USD...but I do like the clean look you have...I might have to get the Metra and compare...

EuroPlate your one lucky SOB, I've been looking at these for a while for my previous cars and my new Camry. Are you installing this into already stock speaker set up?
I'm wondering if I can install a much higher quality head unit and that will allow the stock speakers to perform better. I was able to pull this off in my 01 Jetta...

Anyone else have any input on this possibility?
Um I would say that your sound would be more crisp and clear. You might get less bass though. Because stock units are tuned for the crappy stock speakers for them to even sound decent.
I would say if you install the unit and want better quality sound. I would recommend you to get a good set of components for the front and power them with an appropriate amp. Rear's wont be a big deal so spend money on the front for a better SQ system. If you want more bass you could even add a single sub or so.
