5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm new to this website, but I have some quick questions.
I have the chance to buy a 2007 Camry LE with 42000 miles on it for 12500.00. I work at a car dealership, so I'm basically getting the car at cost. I've read lots of reviews about the Camry, some good, some bad, some about transmissions going out. I'm a little worried about the higher mileage, but this car will be parked most of winter, so I should be able to reverse it somewhat.
I know I'm getting a great price, I just want to make sure Im getting a great car. It has only had one owner, the inside is in great shape, new tires on it.
make sure it doesnt vibrate between 60 and 80 mph, even with the tires balanced. Make sure all tsbs are applied. If its such a great car why did the OO get rid of it. If it was built in 2006, dont get it. My suggestion, you dont have to take it. It is a good price though.

There is nothing wrong with this car if it hasn't been wrecked. The I4 engine is under powered, and since you are in SLC you will notice it. See how it leaves from a red light. The transmissions don't break. The engines are generally bullet proof. There have been issues that were solved by updating the car's computer. Transmission shift points were changed. Make sure the oil is clean and you should be fine.

"People who think they know it all are particularly irritating to those of us who do."
[I have a 07 camry SE that was built in 6/06 and its been great I love it. 40K is not high mileage for a toyota its not a saturn. I'd jump all over it.
Hell yea I can keep up in my little i4
Its enough, the truth is I dont see why anyone needs more power unless they're trying to race(although I wouldnt mind more power at all!!)
On second thought it is underpowered lol but its good
$12.5K seems like a good deal. Since you work there, at least you can get an honest opinion from the mechanics as to what kind of condition it's in, if you're not a mechanic yourself. The 2.4L I4 isn't a thrilling engine but it's not a deal breaker either, not by a long shot.

IMHO, those are the first production vehicles and I got a lemon that the dealer would not recognize. TSBs, a forever vibration, rattling underneath the car on heavy acceleration, cheap ass paint. I bought it May 2006. So maybe they fixed all the crap that people complaint about in later production versions, kinda like microsoft puts out a half ass software and then people send in the error message so they can fix it in patches.
