Gen6 interesting sub vibration list.... fixes to come hopefully

Well its been a few weeks since I have installed my sub. this is a prime time to hunt down those pesky loose rattles.

heres my list of current rattles ( not all have been fixed yet)

rear deck, obviously lol

sunroof shade when open

gas tank door???

the point where the mirror connects to the glass? theres a small access port facing down towards the cabin. im guessing its for maintenance? anyway it rattles on ultra low notes ( 20 hz tester )

the whole trunk- i am still hunting down the source. im guessing the innermost taillight housings: the ones actually mounted to the trunk

left wheel well- only the left side. im blaming the shape of the trunk. pressing on the sheet metal fixes this. not related to the gas tank door rattle.

misaligned seatbelts- they rattle afainst their respective pillars if the strap is twisted.

loose wiring- my power cable always rattles when the ipod is in the cupholder. time to switch to a coiled version. some amp wiring was loose. patched that up. its was a subtle but distinct and noticible rattle

pass through- i have to lock it to stop the rattle at high volumes.

REAR WINDOW SHADE- tried and failed on several occasions to keep the pull tab from vibrating. considering cutting it off then having terrorists chemically bomb it for the anger its caused

front air dam- for some reason im dropping bolts left and right off that thing. not sub related- started over two months ago. anyway not it rattles too. replacement bolts on the way. ill probably gorilla glue or loc-tite them this time.

charging hiss- if you dont have the ipod cable into the nav/radio this can sometimes occur. the charging cable will send a hiss through the speakers easy enough to fix: stop charging the ipod and bam!

windshield: apparently this pane og glass dosent like excessive stress. heard a new vibration when blasting subs and doing 85+ mph at the same time. hard to tell whether this was sub related or wind related.

Junk in the trunk: i didnt notice a rattle was coming from a plastic bag in the trunk till four hours of searching was completed...

junk in the net: see above. a pece of paper provided the surface area necessary to cause a scraping sound at the net connection hooks

any other finds? or suggestions for fixing this rattle? or links to a solution? i thought I would provide some stock for an info thread

your adding a bigger speaker that vibrates the shit out of the car. What else do you expect?

either turn the bass down....

or turn it up so you cant hear the rattles :P

yeah bro, take out everything in your trunk, even the liner. dynamat the while thing. even the insides of the trunk sides where the fenders meet.

pad or dynamat behind your license plate.

for your rear deck......take it out, dynamat the metal, then on the edges of the rear deck, take 1/4in weather stripping foam and line the edges where it meets the glass.

thats what i did at least, and i have no rattles.

edit: i managed to fix some of the more annoying rattles!

for the rear deck: i did some searching, and dropped a sheetrock screw into the space under the baby seat anchor. fixed all but the most stubborn rattles.

license plate: i glued a ziplock bag onto the back and filled it with spare cabinet carpet. works fine until i get some dynamat.

sunshade: i took a paperclip and unbent it to strengthen the pull tab. its less flexible but dosent rattle.

these were the major rattles and my cars much quieter now from the inside.

anyone have any ideas for the gas tank door rattle? its currently the most noticeable. not sure if dynamat will do the trick, i think its rattling because the latch isnt that tight
