power steering hose leak

OK, I have developed a leak in the power steering hose that connects to the fluid reservoir (the smaller diameter hose). The dealer only sells this as an assembly (all the way to the pump, and very expensive). The hose is molded. Any one replaced just this first hose section? Do you have an aftermarket source? AutoZone and several others I checked don't seem to have this (at least on line).

Thanks

This is the first time hearing of this problem for me. Have any pics? Is it a large leak? Could you get a hose of similar diameter from autozone or NAPA and use that?

Leak is small. I suspect the hose is hardening. First it started leaking at the reservoir, getting the inner fender damp. I was able to reclamp and limit the leakage to the hose, which I now wipe occasionally. But now the other side is leaking, and again the inner fender is pretty wet. Nothing on the ground, so it isnt going to make the pump run dry tonight, but I would like to fix it and haven't been able to find a replacement.

No hiding my newbee status on the forum. 04 Kentucky built camry w/1mz eng. around 86K miles (all desert driving), so rubber definitely dies here in the heat, especially under the hood.

I know this thread is a little old but I am starting to experience the same problem. I only need to replace the rubber hose. Did you find an alternate source? Can I just use some bulk rubber hose cut to length?

Mine's doing the exact same thing. It just started this winter. I haven't followed the routing yet, but i can't see why this wouldn't work with generic hose. The molded stuff is very nice, but it never seems worth the money.

I ended up just buying the bulk hose. It clears everything good enough. I dont understand why they don't just sell the rubber hose part. You have to buy the complete hose assembly including the metal tubing. The cheapest that I have been able to find the oem part for is $61 not including shipping. The bulk hose was less than a few bucks.
