Gen6 How to Drain and fill? help!

After searching, iv decided to do a drain and fill rather than a flush
I have an automatic I4 08SE with 42,000+ miles and i have never even touched any of the liquids dealing with the tranny. Tomorrow I will be changing the engine oil and was wondering if I could get help with a drain and fill. Could someone post a DIY or even just show me in a picture of what the drain plug/blot (whatever it’s called) Looks like? Also how much should I expect will drain out?

1) Park car on level ground, turn the car on and run the car to normal running temp.
2) Locate the drain bolt and unscrew it to release the ATF.
3) Clean and screw bolt back on.
4) Add how ever much ATF drained, with a funnel to where the tranny dip stick was located.
5) Repeat however many times needed depending on the quality of the AFT that was drained out.

Do these steps sound right?? Should this be done with the car running or with is off?

Also what is the specific name of the AFT i should buy at the dealer? Also how much should I expect to pay??

Thanks!

Sounds good, but the fluid warms up if you drive and stir up the fluids then drive to your "workstation" and git down & dirty.

If you do multiple drains, drive about 300 miles between changes. With your mileage, 2 Tranny oil changes would more than fine.

Car OFF, your trusty local auto supply shop will show what fluid it needs.

I have a 2008 Camry LE 4cylinder and it requires the WS (World Standdard) ATF. Redline makes an eqiuivalent fluid. Last I heard, no off the shelf suppliers made an equivalent fluid for our transmssions.

Edit: I had the dealer drain and refill at 20k and 40k and they used 2.5 quarts; I plan to do another drain and refill at 60k which is coming up in another 3k or so.

Shelbrain, I am not trying to pick a fight just curious to why you would change the fluid.

I agree, no reason to change your trans fluid for another 60,000 miles.
