5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I am new to the Toyota Family and happy with it so far. We just bought a 07 Camry SE about a week ago and love it. Taking our first trip this weekend.
My question is - is there a way to remove the clear plastic faceplate that covers the radio?
There is a liquid (looks like soda) that is behind it and I am wanting to clean it. Before I start removing the entire unit I wanted to check around to see if anyone has done this. I have searched the forums all day and not found anything. Thanks for the advise.
Wanted to say to Toyota Nation, and thanks too for searching through the forums! Sorry that you didn't find an answer yet, but hopefully someone will chime in with one for you.

I saw one like this at my dealership. It was some sort of defect from the factory. I don't know how to open it up as we never work on radios. We just exchange. Is your vehicle under warranty? If so they may exchange it for you. Our dealership will sometimes exchange even if its out of warranty for a fee. Hope that helps
Well, I didn't see that brown lookin' stuff before. The stuff I saw was more clear liquid. It doesn't cost anything to ask about it, but I have a feeling that they will not exchange due to how the radio manufacturer will react. I don't know for sure though
Since you just bought the car, they may give you a bit of a grace period..unless the liquid was caused by you. If it was there at the day of purchase, then they should replace/fix the problem for you.
I removed the first pic. It was one that I found on the net, and I took some snapshots of my head unit so you knew what I was talking about. My bad, didn't mean to throw you off.
Agree with Punks, or at the least you could heat up the face panel with heat gun and try to pull the panel off. i'm not sure if it will work tho.
oh by the way welcome to TN.
I have spoke to the dealer. Their comment is they have a parts guy and could probably get me a "good price" on getting it fixed. I just don't have a good feeling about it.
We will not go through the same dealer, reason we agreed on the purchase was because of the total price that I was able to get on it. I am in the Mid West and knew that I wanted an SE. Problem was finding them in the area. I was very specific in what I wanted and have been shopping around for about 8 months for it. I found it, and it had all the specs that I was looking for, and I was able to get it at the price that I wanted it for. So I sucked it up about the stain and told myself that I would take care of it myself.
