Gen6 Issues to look out for in 2007 I4

My gf is looking to get a camry from a private party. What are some of the issues that I should look for?

Camry is a 2007 model, bought in May 2006. So it is a 3+ yr old car.
61k miles.
2.4L.
Asking, $13.3k

Other than the scrapes on the bumper bottom lip, and a few dings here and there, are there anything major I should look out for?

I searched and I know that the V6 had issues with the transmission.

I did the KBB and private party sale is $13.8k to 11.8k.

check Carfax and have a mechanic you can trust give it a complete inspection.

(let me know if you do not want to pay for the Carfax report. I still have my account valid until this Friday and can get you a copy for free.)

Thanks skpd, I might take your offer up on the CarFax.

Don't trust Cardax....It still could have had problems, Carfax only goes by what insurance tells them.

Get it looked at by a trusted mechanic.

precisely why I said "and have a mechanic check it"

Carfax in itself is good to check and not a waste of time/money IF accompanied by a complete inspection.

18. No threads requesting Carfax reports or solicitation of Carfax reports.

I'm not, and I guess Punks isn't, enforcing this rule, since this was done through PM.

So chill fellows!

Congrat to the GF, and yeah be sure to have a mechanic look it over before purchase. It's not expensive, and money well spent.

All Carfax will tell is if it be wrecked, has a lien on it or rolled back mileage.

Thanks for the info about Carfax and mechanic. I did that when I bought my Gen 4.5 5SFE in 2004. Took it to a shop before I paid the person for the car. I wonder if Toyota Dealership will do inspections as I saw one like 2 miles away for his house.

Everybody knows carfax is not 100% accurate. I know of flood cars or airbags deployed cars still certified as clean title.

Last nite, I was trying to see if any of the bolts showed signs of being removed or changed as this is the first sign of being in an accident. The only issue last night when i viewed it was it was quite dark.

skpd, please check PM.

a very good think that I saw on the Carfax report for this car was that it has been religeusly serviced at the Toyota dealership (oil changes, air filter changes, inspections and all). That is definitely a big plus.

Thanks skpd!

Owner kept all the receipts from the dealership.
Owner paid $25.xk in May/2006

I forgot to mention until I communicated with skpd. Comes with sunroof, spoiler, OEM rims + new crappy no name tires and a film hood protector.

Love the sunroof, the rest are gravy.

3 Things

1. Dash rattle
2. Make sure TSB 0068-08 has been completed
3. Check the water pump - it is common for this to leak
