On a cloudy day my nav keeps going out of sync, sometimes it comes back the next day sometimes a couple of days later. in anyone else having this problem? how often should the nav read from the nav antenna and not triangulate from the speed sensor.
What could it be my disc
my antenna?
my head unit?
any advise would help, thanks
any way to reset your location?
No, not a total load of BS actually. The RF signal from the satellites is relatively weak and as a result the received signal at the GPS receiver can be quite poor. The fewer the number of satellite signals received, the poorer the signal. It is much like some satellite television services. Customers complain frequently about poor signal response during severe weather. If the cloud layer is sufficiently tall, the signal is attenuated and the GPS doesn't work as well. No problem in Yuma, Arizona. Big problem in Seattle, Washington.

njerald is sort of right. i have navi in mine and have not really lost signal ever. i honestly don't remember not having a signal. first time it took a bit for it to get it but after that it has always had it. sounds like a problem somewhere. maybe the antenna got loose and dropped??
I'm in the car every day with my GPS in the Seattle area and the only time I lose signal is in a tunnel or in a heavily wooded area. Clouds and rain don't do it.
Never had a problem in the rain. Like njerald, I only lost signal when I went into a tunnel and the tunnel is under water (Holland Tunnel between NJ and NY)
the more posts i put up the more i see how helpfull and intelligent people are in this forum. Your mothers should have taught u young that if you have nothing good to say dont say anything. some people on this forum would have never survived growing up here in the bronx, i cant wait to meet you guys at the east coat meet and see how smart yall mouths are then.
thanks for all the advise it was invaluable.
i loose my signal mostly when going over the trogs neck bridge. how long does your nav take to catch back up after it looses you?also my antenna is on my dash and my windshield is tinted, dont know if that makes a difference?
tint won't make a difference. if i do loose signal takes maybe a few secs for it to regain it after leaving the tunnel or bridges. like i said. if your loosing signal too much then go to dealer and see if they will replace the antenna. theres a possibility something might have come loose and it fell or maybe it just went wrong.
1 thing you didn't mention. are you aftermarket or oem navi?
yep like i said make sure it's secure and if anything just get a new one. afaik it's no more than like 40,50 bucks from dealer though i never really checked. if that doesn't help you can always return the antenna and keep trying to diagnose problem.
thanks man it turned out to be the ground wires on the pug that goes into the radio were frayed and touching the positive(inner wire) fixed it and now i am back to normal. thanks
