2003 camry transmission

Hey guys I'm net to the forum. Have 03 Camry le. I noticed the other day on the highway i was going 120km and the tach was sitting at 3000 rpm which is the normal spot for it to switch over. I had to go up to 150km roughly before the transmission would switch. Is this normal or is something going?

By about 75 MPH/120KM/H aren't you already in top OD gear? So you're talking about downshifting?

Have you changed out the filter and ATF?

He's right, its hard for anybody to know whats normal for your car except you, try changing the fluid and be sure and use the kind it tells you to use in the owners manual (or on the dipstick). Mine 2002 V6 says "Use Toyota TIV fluid ONLY", no Dextron or anything else but. Also i'm not sure if your transmission has a seperate drain plug for the differential or not too but if it does i'd drain that too.
TIV fluid equivalents are available now from Castrol etc. but the price difference is negligible (Toyota TIV is dealer only and about $5 a quart) and so the genuine fluid is preferable to any equivalents.
