Gen5 Help for Stuck power seat

Hi all,

Here is some help for people who put their power seat in the forward most position and it gets stuck.

My car is a 2002 Toyota Camry LE. The Driver's seat got stuck in my car.

1. Remove 2 Bolts from the seat back

2. Remove 2 Bolts from the front

3. Take seat out and turn it over. Remove the plastic skirts so that you can view the motors.
4. Remove 3 bolts holding down the center motor and take out the motor and the shafts

5. Insert the tool in the shaft’s hole and rotate it clockwise/counterclockwise, depending on where it will travel

6. I used the following tools to rotate the gears.

7. Reinsert the shafts and reinstall the motors
8. Connect the cable to the seat and check whether it works or not. It worked for me.
9. Disconnect the cable. Take the seat out and reinstall the side skirts. Put the seat back in, reconnect the cable.
10. Reinstall the seat.

Hope this helps
Regards,
MSK

They are working now. Why such a convoluted way to upload the pictures. I'm sure it is much easier if we could upload them directly with the post.

thanks again for this right up, i did this today, took me about a hour only because it was hard trying to figure out something to fit into the seat and turn the gears, also i don't have any "gear wrenches/ratcheting wrench" so it took awhile to get the front bolts off using a normal wrench with the seats all the way forward lol..

but the whole trial and error process would have taken even longer if this write up wasn't hear cause i wouldn't know where to begin!..

also just a tip, instead of finding something to turn the gears on the seat, just insert one of the axles into one side of the seat, get the seat close enough to plug it in and use the motor to move one slider at a time and get them even, i just did that and put them all the way to the rear to make sure they where even, then i hooked both axles up and moved the seat to the middle and put them back in..

Thumbs up It worked!!

Hi,

Thanks for the write up, it saved me $$$$. After paying $120 for labor at 2 different places who told me to go to the dealership and get a new assembly for $1100 I tried to give this a shot.

It took me and a friend an hour and the seat works like a charm now. I did a lot of research and this was the best write up I found. The gears weren't turning for one side of the seat for me. I just lightly smacked it with a hammer and it started working.

Thanks again for the excellent right up.

Regards,

GG.
