2004 Camry CD Player Stop working

Hi All,

I am new to this forum and i am asking question regarding my dad's camry

So as the title says when i insert a CD it says TR on the top and nothing plays. We tried so many CDs which use to work before and brand new cds ( which will work on other cars stock players ). I am not talking about MP3 CD.. its general Audio CD. So my questions are

1. Will there be a Warranty on this ? We went to the dealer and he said NO. He is quoting $450 to change .. I searched on google and noticed a lot of people complained about this. is there a recall ?

2. I plan to remove battery ( wait for 1min ) and re-attach so the radio will reset. I hope this will fix the issue. Now has 2004 Camry got Audio code which needs to entered upon re attaching the battery ?. I see a security light next to audio console.

3. If above both options fails, i plan to get this from ebay and install it myself. Now is there a manual or guide to remove the old console and attach new one ? again will i need to get the new security code from the ebay seller ?

I appreciate anyone who can answer my questions .

thanks alot ..

Since it sounds like your stock cd player is starting to fail, or already failed. i would just sugguest getting an aftermarket cd player. By installing an aftermarket cd player, the sound quality will drastically improve and you have the ability to play mp3 cds if you have any. From the look of that cd player from ebay, it doesnt mention anything about a security code, so i think you should be fine.

i don't think the camry radios require a code, at least mine does not. if the security light you are seeing is on the HVAC panel... that is the alarm light, not the radio.
