New 2010 Toyota Camry tranny weird shifting issue Help
Ok so just got this car and @ 213 miles I notice a problem. About 1500-2000 rpm when its shifting (automatic ) the car will vibrate, it feels like when you are in the high way and go off the side and go over the warning bump things? Its a mild version of that. Took it in and said they didnt know what the problem was, they then created a ticket for Toyota. Called me today and said they will do a tranny flush!! I have already lost 3 hours of work for taking it in. I called the customer service toyota number and they just said they will look into it and I would get a call back. Also the car has a wierd noise coming from the dash, does it sometimes. Its like a grinding noice. They could not duplicate that problem. Its a new car I should not been waisting my time. This is nuts. What you guys think?
Transmission problems are EXTREMELY common for all V6-powered 2007+ Camrys. Also pretty much everyone on this board has had various rattling and creaking noises from the dash, sunroof area and other interior panel areas.
My car's tranny died at around 47000KM and now I'm on my second transmission. The first tranny would have a habit of flaring in between certain upshifts and sometimes harshly downshifting. My second tranny does the same but, knock on wood, it's still alive.
I've been at the dealer LOTS of times for various interior noises. Most of them were finally corrected but your dash will make creaking noises when the weather is cold no matter how you try to fix it.
While I find this generation of the Camry to be beautiful unlike all the previous generations (notably Gen5), it is evident that quality has slipped. You will have to live with it. Try not to waste too much of your time fixing these issues because at the end you will not win.

I see, Its a Base model, i4 not v6. But been that is such a new car and started doing 3-4 days after purchase I really would like a new car. You think I can push for one? I purcahsed a new car just so I wont have to take it to the mechanic, my last car I had to junk.

I think you would need to enact a lemon law (that is, have the dealer unsuccessfully try to fix something 3 times in a row) to try to get a new car.
It is certainly reasonable to expect a brand new car to be free of silly defects however realistically I don't think you can push for a new car unless you want to involve some lawyers in the process.
Try talking directly with Toyota HQ to file your complaint because you will not get sympathy from the dealer. The simple reason is that the dealer bills Toyota for any repairs. Therefore, they would want to try to fix your car as much as possible to "feed" themselves.

Yes I already called Toyota's 1800 customer support #. They created a case and contacted the dealer.
The worst part is I got some mice asa ar1 im my dining room waiting to be installed. I dont want to put them on until they fix this. arg!!!
Sounds like a engine lugging problem that some had with their I4 5 speed autos.
At 1,300-1,700 RPM in 5th or 6th, the trans. does not downshift on a slight accelerator pedal (paddle or petal to the high school/college members) application.
The ECM had to be reflashed for smoother shifting...

Hmm weird Toyota told them to flush out tranny, donno why they didnt advice on the reflash.
lol If I was toyota I would have someone in this forum to get all this info and then they wont waist our time in the dealer. I love the car but this tranny thing is killing me.
I thought there was a TSB on transsy reflash on 07 (4 banger and above?
The 6th Generation Camry will go done in history as the least reliable and most problematic Camry. If only they brought back the Generation 3 Camry's. Best car ever made. Gen 4 Camry's had major engine problems (sludge).
How many Gen 4 Cams do you still see on the road today compared with Gen 3s? Not too many Gen 4s out there, but Gen 3s are still all over the place. I could say the same with Honda with a comparable time period.

"The North Carolina lemon law requires that the consumer makes 4 repair attempts or has more than 20 days out of service during any 12 month period, within 2 years or 24,000 miles or the express warranty of the vehicle, whichever is greater."

Thanks for the info. Well talked to Toyota last night, they said that it will take 40 days for them to review the case to give me another new car. This is crazy. I just took it right now to the dealer to get a strike one on them. lol 3 more time and lemon law. So they are going to flush the tranny. And "fix" the dash noise and now I notice the passenger seat cloth seam came off!! They are going fix it too. So im telling them I can’t take off work again (they have shuttle service) and they have to pick me up during lunch and I need either my car fix by 1:30pm or another car for me to use. They act like thats not possible. This is going to start getting ugly. Im going to call the service manager right now..... will update after the call lol
