'03 Camry- questions about intermediate stering shaft - dangerous? easy to regrease?

EDIT: never mind, someone bumped a thread that answered my question today.

Our 03 camry is exhibiting a steering click/clunk, which based on my readings is probably the well-known intermediate shaft problem. I scanned the threads but didn't get a great answer to my main two questions.

1) Is it dangerous to just keep on driving - will it eventually fail?

2) I read about some people injecting grease into it with success - and at much less cost and effort than shaft replacement. Does anyone have an opinion on it? I realize replacement is the definitive option, but it would be nice to know if there is acceptable alternative.

Thanks again

I would be concerned that all the grease is doing is making the problem less irritating.
The click clunk is probably a warning of things to come.
Brakes and stearing are two things I don't take any chances with.
Had to replace mine at 60000km.
