passing wire to engine bay

Car: Camry 2003 with factory head unit no amps or cd changer.

nee do install a hd tuner to hook up to the stock head unit. Been looking for ways to power this thing up other than splicing up the head unit harness (which I really don't want to do) the other option seem to be drawing power from the battery.

This is my first electrical install in a car so go easy on me.
1.What is the best place run the wire from the cabin to the battery terminal?
2. Where is the best place to connect the ignition wire from the device?

Anything step by step direction with especially pictures would be helpful.

A simple ground loop isolator will solve that problem. Also you could look into the fuse box. Just tap into a fuse that would be suitable. You could use a piggy back fuse holder to do so.

There is another rubber plug above the accelerator pedal the has nipples projecting from the paasenger compartment to the engine bay. Pierce one of these nipples and pass a wire forward coat hangar and electrical tape is the bomb, here. . Now, where to find a switched 12v+, that's the next challenge. You can go to the battery + terminal but add a fuse there. It's alsays on. I used this to add 2 cig sockets to keep the cell phone happy. The head unit splice might be the answer for a switched power supply.

I connected mine to the cig lighter fuse so the amp would shut off after the ignition was off.
