Sound Quality of Factory Ipod Interface Kit?

I tried using the aftermarket iSimple (isim71) unit on my 2009 Camry (no navigation, just LCD radio with SAT ready) and noticed that the sound quality of the unit was not as good as using the aux output on my iPod. I was expecting it to sound at least as good as the aux, as I've seen on various posts. By sound quality I mean clarity and crispness, not necessarily volume, since I realize that this can be adjusted on the iPod when using aux. It sounds somewhat lo-fi when using this unit. I asked and a couple of car stereo shops said iSimple (Peripheral) is a good company and should not sound any more inferior to another brand.

My question is if anyone who has the Toyota Interface Kit has compared the sound quality with the aux output on their iPod or iPhone? If anyone can do this and reply that would be very very appreciated! I was able to return the other unit at Best Buy, but can't return the Toyota unit according to the parts department. Thanks a lot in advance!

why did you buy the kit if you already have an aux input?

I got the kit so I can control my iPod through my radio and keep the iPod put away in my glove box. This way I don't have to take my iPod out and put it away every time I drive my car, as well as fiddle with it when listening to music while driving. It's sort of a matter of convenience for me (I got spoiled having this capability with my previous car - Scion xB).

Thanks bigloubumpin. The only problem is that when connecting the iPod using the 30-pin connector (using the interface) the equalization in the iPod is bypassed for some reason. The EQ only makes a difference when using the aux output. Maybe this is why it sounds better when I use aux output. However, in my previous car the 30-pin connection sounded just as good (hi-fi) as the aux, which makes me confused why it's different now.
