all season tire recommendations for 2006 Camry

I need to buy 4 all season tires for my 2006 Camry. I would like a tire with good traction . I was wondering about Goodyear assurance tripletreds. Does anyone have experience with those tires or recommendations for other brands ? Thank you.

Unless you get very little snowfall and no ice where you live, it's not a good idea to run all seasons in the winter. "All season" tires are really "three season tires."

But if you insist on it go with the Nokian WR-G2's. They are an "all weather" tire that are certified for the snow. Expensive, but cheaper than buying two sets of tires, one for summer and one for winter.

Michelin would be quieter according to TireRack ratings. Seems like most if not all GoodYears are noisy.

For daily driver Michelin Primacy MXV4 should be fine. Should give you about 60K miles in typical driving.

Sportier one is the Michelin Exalto A/S Ultra-High Performance Sports tire.

+1 for the Michelin Exalto, Kumho Ecsta ASX are good too.

I personally like Yokohama AVID series, either the H4S or TRZ.

We've had the TripleTreads for a couple of months on our 05 Honda Odyssey; my TCH has only 18K miles on it. The Oddy has even more sound sensitivity than the Camry - and the GY are mostly quieter. On some surfaces, it's more like different in pitch but on some surfaces the OEM tires 'sang' on, the GY are way quieter than the OEM Michelins.

Consumer Reports rated them well, as did Tire Rack - at the price point. The Michelins mentioned in a couple of the other posts are typically $50/tire more, and the CR ratings didn't seem to justify the premium. The only consistent knock was relatively poor ice traction and so-so wear. If you expect to do a lot of snow-and-ice driving, they may not be the best winter tire choice.

My 07 SE V6 has Michelin Energy MXV4's on it. I bought the car this past fall and after a couple of light snow falls, I'm really disappointed in them. The traction to get going simply isn't there. I had trouble getting started up a very slight grade on an asphalt parking lot that had some scraped snow on it and the wife got the car stuck to-day in a neighbours driveway and had to be pushed. The traction control comes in much too early in my opinion. Just about the time the car wants to move, the TC cuts in.

My last car, a Pontiac Grand Prix, had Goodyear Eagle GT's on it and I certainly didn't have the traction problem I have with this Camry and Michelins. I think I'll be ordering some Eagle GT's from TireRack.
