5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
How many of you would be intersted in TRD Producing more legit TRD Parts for the camry 4cyl or 6cyl?
i find that the scion has a decent selection of TRD parts while the camry was left for just badges and caps.
Personally id like to see them make a TRD Turbo Kit, A TRD Lip kit ( slightly different than the SE kit) TRD Grills. The aurion (cant spell) rear bumber for the camry gen 6, in fact the whole rear conversion. TRD Headers and ect. i think that would be nice.
but the more people i have in support than i can form a proposal and maybe have trd develop more parts for the camry. though some of you may call it wishful thinking a well set up proposal and plenty of consumer support, they may find it to be a good business idea and produce some parts.
then we can show everyone what a true car is. lol
if interested please respond with:
1.Full Name
2.TN user name
3.City, State
4.Any additional parts i should add
its gonna be hard but together we can do it one person cant tear down a wall but an army can.
i applaud your effort and attitude, and wish you luck.
however, the bottom line is, money talks...a turbo kit and lip kit requires a lot of R&D and money....for not many people to actually buy it. the scions have a lot more support because they are geared toward younger buyers, who are more likely into tuning, where the vast majority of camry owners are older, family-oriented, and have no interest in tuning their family sedan...
Thank you and i understand your point of view, but also as time passes these gen6 and gen5 camrys will be passed down, or bought by younger people looking for a good car at a reasonable price and with that, comes the new wave of tuners looking for fun and a challenge, and with that said comes the investment return on the R&D that TRD will bw putting in towards this.

In the end that's what it comes to. The Camry was built as a family sadan, not a sports car.
yes but so was the 4door accord and look at the parts and stuff for it, with time and exposure it can be done
not by honda though......TRD is focused on the new models, not the ones that are being handed down.. car companies don't make parts based on the resale ability of their cars..
the things available for the accord are crappy aftermarket parts..mostly made because some of them share engines with the civics and what not..
true but in that same factor doesnt the camry share its soul with the scion tc? so with that altering the fitments and tuning fot the trd parts for the scion shouldnt be that hard to transfer to the camry

As mentioned before, Camry is a FAMILY sedan vehicle. Scion is geared more towards customizing. If you come to NY to the Auto Show or seen pictures, you'll see that Scion has a whole section with customized vehicles were as the Camry, you dont see.
Gen 6 has been out for 3 years, its kind of late to get such support. If it was to be done, it should of been done within months of the generations release.
The TRD stopped selling the TRD turbo for the Aurion which you can not get anymore.
If its a car to be passed down, majority of people will use it go get from point A to point B rather than fix it up. Its not like its a classic car where its worth something when restored and fixed up looking new again. Especially with the economy, people are spending less and companies are cutting back.
true but in that same factor doesnt the camry share its soul with the scion?
what soul? a four cylinder motor that doesn't belong in a camry anyway??
and once again...honda isn't making the parts for the cars...aftermarket companies are. TRD is not an aftermarket company... and they will certainly never make a turbo kit for the car...they have done s/c's in the past but apparently they didn't think it made sense to do it for the gen 5 or 6 cams...

Different sizes, different frame, different model and totally different class.
If Toyota wanted to release all these aftermarket parts, they would of just released a model similar to the Aurion.
All we have are TRD springs and exhaust for Gen 6. Even the exhaust has a stop sale...in other words, they stopped making it/stopped selling it. Gen 5/5.5 has front strut, springs and rear sway
alright well ill continue to try to pursue this, maybe not with TRD but with other companies, but seeing as i wont get much support from here, you can close the thread, since its purpose was to gather support.
If you hadn't noticed the "Toyota" brand has gotten out of the "Performance" based cars in the last few years. They dropped the Supra and Celica from their line up...and the MR2.
They're more geared toward the family markets now. This is why Scion came about.
TRD only made S/C btw. And they are few and far between. You can still find a used one the odd time. But they're mostly for the Gen 5 and older gens.
Like everyone has said, if TRD was coming on board for Camry parts they would have done it from year 1 of the Gen 6 (2007).
It's too late into a model generation to start producing parts.

we are supportive, but do you really think you're the first person who has come up with this plan? the camry group is hard to get support from, a lot of people are all talk, but won't lay the money down... good luck..let us know what you find out.
