Any mechanical insight? (2004 Camry)

Hey all,

So I decided to have another go at trying to fix my rear right power window regulator this morning after an unsuccessful attempt at it yesterday and to my surprise it worked. Of course I did some research on the ToyotaNation forums to see if anyone else was having a similar problem so maybe that made the difference.

The problem I was having was that my rear right power window would not operate between using the rear right power window switch or the driver's side master window panel. It hasn't worked for the last six months and my dad even took it to a mechanic to have it checked out but that only temporarily fixed the problem because it stopped working a week later. Now this morning when I thought to check the parts individually (power window switch, wires, regulator motor) I just tested the rear right switch with the rear left switch and to my amazement it worked! The controls from my driver side master panel worked too so I'm alittle bewildered at why it didn't work for the last six months. As of right now everything works and I put everything back to where it was.

There is also a slight click/tick noise when the rear right window goes all the way down then up and also when the window goes below half way down then up. Any possible mechanical insight would be appreciated since I'm not too well informed on the electrical system on my camry.

the window motor might be failing. also, check the track to make sure its not being restricted by anything. clean the track and regrease it.. if it fails again, maybe get a new window motor

Check the motor, regulator, and the tracks.Make sure nothing is obstructing the glass motion. The motor may be on its way out in which case can explain why its intermittent

I can't explain why the motor decided not to work and then work again but I took out the regulator and found that the tension coil had somehow slipped one loop and the bent end is now coiled around the regulator rather than the coils.

My question now is should I try to recoil the tension coil so that it catches on the front part of the regulator or should I just replace the whole regulator?

I would just change the regulator and be done with it. Its no easy task to force that spring back in place.
