Hey all,
After quite a bit of searching here on TN without answer (I seached every thread that had the word window in it), I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on a new issue on my 02 SE.
My wife drove my car to work this weekend and upon returning home she stated that she opened the front window, went to roll it up and it stopped 0.25" from the top. She tried rolling it up again and nothing happened. Ditto for if she tried to roll it back down.
She also stated that none of the other windows would operate either. This is true if done via the drivers cluster or at the individual switch on each door.
For the heck of it, I tried opening the moon roof via and it wouldn't budge either.
At first, I thought that maybe it was a blown fuse, but from what I can tell from my manual each window & the moon roof are all on seperate fuses.
I'm going check them all when I get home late tonight, although I'm not really thinking that is the problem, but does anyone have any other thoughts what might be the problem?
Electrical problems can be a B1TCH and tough to figure out sometimes
Did you already replace the fuses? I would start with that, It's very possible that they both blew out at roughly the same time.
If that doesn't work try opening up the driver's side door panel, grab a multimeter and see if there is voltage going to the main control board underneath all the buttons. If there is voltage then the unit itself is probably fried, if there is no voltage, then your problem is elsewhere. I'm no expert in electrical stuff, so beyond that, I would be at a loss as to what to do.

Swap the 30 amp fuse from the power seat with the 30 amp Power 1 fuse right next to it on the inside fuse panel. This fuse supplies power to both the power windows and moon roof.

Reason: clarify.
Thanks to all for the replies and especially to Luna for the solution that worked.
I hadn't considered looking at the fuse you suggested because the description of it in the manual didn't reference the moonroof and it only referenced the driver-window.
But, I now have 4 working windows and a funcational moonroof again, so all is good.

Glad I could help. I chased it down using the overall wiring diagram in the service manual. It was the only fuse that tied the two together, not marked as such.

Do you think this solution could work on a 2009 base model camry? My driver side window still functions fine but the passenger side and back windows won't go down. I noticed this problem about a week ago when the Maintenance Required light wouldn't turn off. I don't know much about the electrical workings of a car but if this is something that I can fix instead of taking it to the dealership to look at, I'll try it. Thanks
No. If one window is working and the others are not, then you have power at least to the switch and beyond for the one window. if the other are not working, you need to start at the switch. If they all failed at the same time is is no doubt the switch. You can test the switch with your ohm meter very easily.
For the OP, you may have located the problem but it isn't yet solved. Fuses don't fail without a cause. Look at the original blown fuse for excess oxidation, and then look at the fuse holder for oxidation. Extra resistance here can causer a failure, and likely will cause another as well. There was a reason that the fuse failed.

Both of your problems may be unrelated...
First, have you tried to operate all of the passenger windows using their respective switches?
Do any of them work?
Have you inadvertently activated the Window Lock Switch? If it is in the on position, it will disable all windows but the drivers window and it is the top switch on the master control panel (according to the service manual (WS-6).
Second, you stated the Maintenance Required light wouldn't turn off.
The Maintenance Required light, if on, means you are due an oil change. It activates at 4,500 mile with warning flashes, increasing in persistence the closer you get to 5,000 miles where it will stay on.
If you recently had your oil changed, it was not reset.....
To reset, turn on the ignition switch, set the trip odometer to"A", turn off the ignition switch, push the trip button in, then turn on the igition switch, wait till the trip display shows all 0's, release trip button. There it's done....
On a side note, all of this information is in the Owners Manual.
Please read it as there are other settings you should be aware of.
Such as:
TPMS Reset button, it's operation and location
Valet key options
Trunk lockout, how to activate and deactivate
IPC dimmer switch
and others.
Also note: If any of the lights inside are activated manually, by it's own switch, it will remain on all the time, till it's removed from the manual on position.....
