5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
This guide is for installing the factory keyless entry in 2005, 2006 Toyota Camry CE (standard) which doesn't come with it. The car already has all the wiring necessary except the connector for door control module which you will have to install it. I hold no responsibility if anything goes wrong. I have successfully installed it in my 05 Camry and everything works as it should, didn’t have any problems. If you have any questions contact me I will try to help as much as I can.

Let’s Begin……………
Parts you need to buy: · Door Control Module part # 89741-AA020 paid $16 shipped on ebay(buy here) · Buzzer part # 89747-48020 about $25 at the dealer (already had mine from another car) · Remote Control with Trunk Button FCC ID: GQ43VT14T $15 shipped on ebay · 3 Wires about 10ft long (preferably color coded: Red, Green, Blue, but doesn’t matter) · Trunk lock assy. with motor part#64600-AA020 if you want to open the trunk with remote
Pictures of the parts you need:
The Door Control Module is located on the rear passenger side pillar. The buzzer is mounted on the bracket underneath the passenger headlight where the windshield whasher tank holds from.
First step is to locate the gray plug in the passenger kickpanel. On this plug there is 5 wires: you’re looking for 3 thin wires; Red, Green with red stripe and Blue with white stripe. Don’t touch the other 2 thick wires (Red, Green).
You need to continue these 3 wire towards the back of the car. You can buy the wires from radio shack or any hardware stores that sells wires. You don’t need anything special.
The door control module uses D5 plug you can probably buy it from dealer but you don’t have to, I soldered the wires on mine inside the module.
Connect those 3 wires in the following order:
· Red to #5
· Green with red stripe to #3
· Blue with white stripe to #2
· #1 is ground (negative) you can connect it to the bolt that holds the module in place
The buzzer is mounted on the braket that holds the windshield washer tank, behind/underneath the passenger headlight. There should be a 2 pin connector with blue and white wire. All you need to do is just install the buzzer. You need to remove the front bumper and passenger headlight to install the buzzer.
For remote trunk realease you need to replace the lock assembly. Try to find it at junk yards cheaper, it’s $170 at the dealer. It’s the same connector (2pin) for both types of lock assembly. The white with blue strip wire is for trunk release. Just replace the lock assembly, that’s all you need to do.
Another option is to buy an aftermarket universal trunk release Kit on ebay for about $20-25 and figure a way to install in on the trunk and then use the white wire for + positive signal and ground for negative. You also need to install a relay kit for it, otherwise it will fry the body ECU. Personally I would go with the factory because It has been tested and you don’t need anything else, like relays and stuff etc.
Universal kit looks something like this:
Programming Instructions: · Driver’s door open, key removed from ignition · Within 5 seconds….insert and remove key from ignition 2 times · Within 40 seconds….close and open driver’s door 2 times · Insert and remove key from ignition switch · Within 40 seconds…close and open driver door 2 times · Insert key into ignition and close driver door · Turn ignition to ON and OFF one time to program a remote whilst retaining original codes or 2 times to program a remote whilst erasing the original codes 3 times to check how many remotes are registered or 5 times to erase all registered codes · Remove key from ignition – system should now lock and unlock vehicle, once, twice, or five times depending which mode was selected – one to four times slowly to indicate # of remotes registered · Within 40 seconds…press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK remote buttons, together for 1.5 secs. · Within 3 secs. Press LOCK remote button System should now lock and unlock vehicle one time to confirm registration 2 times to indicate it has failed – within 40 secs. Repeat procedure to program remaining remotes

Good write up, but just to clarify - you installed the factory keyless entry system, not alarm. The factory alarm is the VIP RS series, which would require additional parts.
