fuel problems, where to start?

hey guys!
Been reading this forum a lot, solved few issues thanks to other posters experiences. Now i have a problem that i cant diagnose.
My car is 2002 camry, 4cyl, a/t, 105k miles. It starts fine, idles fine. When i put in in gear and try to move it acts funny like it has no gas, it would twich until it reaches 2000 rpms, than it would be fine from there on. I almost caused an accident getting on the highway, i stepped on the gas pedal to join the traffic and car just wouldnt move until i actually let it roll on its own to a certain speed and then accelarate gently. It might also have this cut off at higher speeds but its not that noticable since car is already rolling. My obd2 scanner shows no dtc's in memory, it has green light/shows that car is emission ready like everything is totally fine. Since its not throwing cel i think it might be fuel related. Where to start checking, any suggestions? Any common fuel related problems with our cars?

thanks in advance!

I experienced a similar problem on my V6 '07. 2 error codes did pop up on the reader.

P0022 -- "A" Camshaft Position timing over-retarded (Bank 2)

P0354 -- Ignition coil D Primary Malfunction

The car felt like it was choking at random times, especially when accelerating or going slow. I know your car is not the same, just saying the problem u describe was similar.

Start by dumping a couple bottles of carb cleaner in the gas. Cheap and can't hurt. Might not fix it, but someone at the dealer is going to want to clean the fuel system for you.

@gdanaher, u r right, will do that today.

@workerant, yes, symptoms are the same. I wish (as ridicioulos as it may sound) i get CEL so that i can follow it from there. Right now obd shows that everything is perfectly fine and its not, this car is not safe to drive at all.

thank u both

Ok, added 2 bottles of carb cleaner, no changes. Cleaned TB (wasnt bad anyway), no changes. Still no CEL on.
When driving in reverse car is not choking like when going forward. I dont know if that helps any diagnostics but I thought i should mention it.

I was wondering did anyone here ever replaced a transmission without having any codes (CEL) on? What are the chances of mechanical parts (hence no codes) failing inside?

We have 3 toyotas in the house, 2 hybrids and this one, they have been nothing but nightmares lately. I thought our cars were suppose to be most reliable on the market?!?

It still might be your transmission since driving in reverse produces no problems. How about you fluid.

If this is a fuel related issue you need special tools to test it out.

Good luck,

Sa,

thanks for your input

Fluid level is fine, its red and doesnt smell bad/burnt.

As far as checking fuel pressure it would be very hard to find anything wrong because I am only having problems when driving. When car is idling it runs great, there is no choking and if i step on the gas i can send it to redline without cuting off. So I would need to check fuel pressure when driving which is impossible. I dont know if I am making sense?!

The engine may be misfiring under a load, which usually indicates an ignition problem. Have the coil packs tested, one or more could be weak and it might not even throw a code. Also when was the last time you changed your spark plugs -
