Newbie!

Hi there!

I'm a newbie here, planning on doing a few modifications to our family car, the '08 Camry Hybrid. I'm 20, and a university student from Toronto, ON.

I'm a past Camry junkie; my parents have been through 7 or 8 Camrys so far -

-'89 Camry AllTrac 4WD (Silver)
-'90 Camry Wagon (Maroon)
-'94 Camry V6 LE (White)
-'96 Camry Wagon (Champagne)
-'97 Camry CE (Black, 5-speed)
-'99 Camry CE (Black, Automatic)
-'07 Camry SE V6 (Grey)
-'08 Camry Hybrid.

Me? I was given the '89 4WD when I got my license in '05, sold it in a few months with 630,000KM on the original engine and transmission. I was then given the '99 CE that mom was driving. I sold that with 250-260K on it in 2006.

My daily driver is currently a 2010 Nissan Altima S, just got it last month, bone stock except for the fact that I'm a car audio junkie.

I also have a summer toy.

Our family car is the '08 Camry Hybrid. My parents were initially considering swapping it for a V6 Venza but decided to stick with it after all.

It's pretty bone stock, I got the windows tinted last year, put some H&R Sport springs on it, and the obligatory TRD license plate cover.

Also put a JBL sub in it, as well as some better speakers. I know the 440W JBL system was decent for OEM, but I like a little better sound quality. We use the car a lot; it was bought new and just rolled over 70K.

and my Altima:

Anyway, nice to "meet" you all and hope to get started on some mods soon!

Hehehe, I saw the "Kiss and Ride" and had to Google that. Never heard such a term before.
Hey man. I like the Hybrid, I genuinely do. My only gripe with it is the CVT transmission. My Altima has the same CVT and to add insult to injury, even has a stupid "tiptronic" mode. Garbage.

A close relative has an '07 or '08 LE (bare bones) with the automatic and I prefer that transmission.

Ideally, if I were to buy a 4-cylinder Camry, I'd still buy an SE I-4 with a sunroof and a stick. However, since as far as I know you can't get that combination in Canada, I'll have to go elsewhere. Can anyone say Mazda6?
