was doing a little recreational reading today on daniel stern lighting and noted that it seems that an H9 bulb should fit in an H11 housing. the difference in light output is significant (1350 lumen from the H11 vs. 2100 from the H9) they seem to have identical base keys which leads me to believe an H9 bulb may fit in our headlights. i just don't have any H9's on hand for a comparison/fit test, so i'm reaching out to you all; anyone got any H9's laying around that they may be able to try out in a gen 6 headlight?

or better yet, has anyone tried this yet?
I replaced from H11 to H9 bulbs on my Camry 09 SE low beam light and Fog light. i was happy with the H9's light output. I used extra wire harness for safety also and modified on H9 bulb's with dermal tool. I've to say thanks to Njeral for his pictures. Here is the link of njeral's. easy and not much difficult to do.
sure. I bought from automotivelightingusa.com. H11 Plug-N-Play heavy duty wire harness ( which is ceramic and not plastic ) made by circuit performance.

The "harness" from that store isn't really a harness though, is it? It's just a wire extension. It doesn't get separate power from the battery nor does it have an actual relay. Am I missing something?
My understanding was that THIS is a proper relay harness, no?

Yazovets--
Perhaps the point of his post regarding the plug extensions was that they can be modified, separate and apart from the stock plugs, so as to fit the H9 bulb? Supposedly they are made of 'heat resistant' materials. Maybe. But it might make the use and future replacement of H9 bulbs easier.

I modified mine from h11 to h9 and my drivers side socket melted and now I am left with paying for a new female socket and of course the mechanic. I have had the h9's in my 07 camry xle 4 cyl for 3 months and guess it finally gave out or something. Think its time to upgrade to HID maybe.
