Excessive Tire Wear

Greetings to all ... I am a new member and this is my first post.

My wife has driven her 2007 Camry XLE (bought new) for just over 10,000 miles and all four of the Bridgestone Turanza EL400 tires appear to be excessively worn. I am OCD about my cars and these tires have been religiously rotated regularly and inflations checked monthly; no signs of pulling or vibration in steering; front end aligned once since purchase. My question is this: Where to go for an adjustment ... the dealer or the local Firestone or other Bridgestone dealer? If they agree to a pro-rated deal, must one replace with exactly the same tire or can you upgrade to another model/brand/etc? Has anyone had a similar experience? Are they likely to pro-rate?

Thanks!

to Toyota Nation!

I'd go to whoever sold you the tires regarding excessive wear given how well you've maintained them. Also, contacting the tire company itself is reasonable considering the circumstances. I'd recommend that you use the Camry forums search tool to find many previous threads that have discussed tire wear issues. Best of luck on a good outcome with the tire dealer.

Read the tire warranty that came with the car.

10K miles is probably a bit low, but it also depends on the type of driving and roads. Most people seem to wear out their Bridgestones around 20K miles.

A quick check on TireRack.com shows that the EL400 is one of the worst tires you can buy (ranked 22 out of 26 in category). Only 2.1/10 would buy again. I personally don't care for Bridgestone/Firestone. IMO they're junk.

Turanza EL400:

It's also possible that the tires were warrantied only 1yr/12K miles.

For typical driving I'd go with Michelin Primacy MXV4 from Costco. You'll get 60K mile tread wear warranty. Ranked 1st in category on TireRack. Great road hazard warranty, free rotation and balance. $70 off 4 tires now.

Go with winners. Go with Michelin.

Hi.
I bought a brand new 2007 camry and my sister bought a brand new 2009 toyota corolla. All tires on both cars worn out after 10,000 miles. It has nothing or little to do with the alignment or rotation of the tires. My guess is they're probable cheap tires that come out of the manufacturer. I ended up getting new tires for my car and my sisters car and so far the tires have put on about 15,000miles and the tire has not worn out a lot. So i say just buy new tires and a recommendation would be goodyear tripletread tires. They are all season tires and very good in all weather conditions.
Another huge factor that plays a role in your tires being worn out too fast is speeding, hard braking and fast turning. Did you know speeding 70mph increases the tires being worn out by 50% as opposed to going 50mph. So if your speeding all the time and taking turns at a fast speed then no matter what tires you get they will wear out every 10,000miles or so and you'll have to purchase new tires more often then you should be.
Trust me on this. I've done my research.
Good luck
