2004 Camry Interior Dome Light Problem

The wife's Camry, stock, no modifications or addons.

- Interior dome light will not come on when doors are unlocked and opened.

- Ignition switch illumination will come on for about 15-20 secs.

- The open door indicator in the instrument cluster will register an open door. (Door Pin switches likely OK)

- The dome light will come on by pushing the lens of each. (7.5A dome fuse should be OK)

- Does not have "On-Off-Door" switch on dome assembly.

Any ideas on why the dome light will not come on? Not sure if there is a fused relay that controls the lights and if there is one where is it? There are no other obvious prolems other than the dome light.

from your description, you are describing your map lights, which are working perfectly fine from your tests. map lights do not come on when doors are unlocked and opened and are manually switched on and off (as you found out) by pushing on the lens. map lights are located above the rear view mirror.

your dome light should be between the two doors on the ceiling and should have an on-off-door switch on it.

Doh....

It was the dome light back behind the sunroof and the switch was off. My own car has the dome/map light forward over the dash console where the Camry's "map" lights are and that's how I was expecting it to work in the Camry. Haven't used her car for ages so I forgot the details of where everything is.

Thanks for the help. Glad I didn't rip the dash apart before stopping by here.
