5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Hey guys, I just did an oil change at my vocational school on my grandpas car, 2008 LE V6. On the way back it threw a CEL. Codes are listed in the title. Now googling those codes i found info on other car manufacturers i.e ford, dodge etc.. But i found nothing in regards to a gen 6 camry. It seems like this code has somthing to do with the engine running lean. Bank 1 and bank 2. What could cause these codes and what could be a posssible remedy. P0174 and P0171 were both pending and setting a cel dont know if maybe they were pending before i did the oilchange.

yea that was exactly what i did. Maybe the car just wasent used to be driven hard like i was doing. If they come back ill proobably take it back to school and diagnose it there.
EDIT: Just got the call from my grandpa, the light came back on...going to bring it to the dealer tomarrow

a vacuum leak can make it run to lean. It's either for a lean code or your o2 sensor cant think right off hand but I really think it is for a to lean code.
No time to read your Factory Service Manual?????????????
i don't have money to waste on a factory service manual....i need gas money. Buying something that ill use 2, maybe 3 times is a waste to me. IF your going to help contribute to the thread then be my guest and post. Otherwise kindly shut your mouth.

i know what the codes are. System lean bank 1 and bank 2..i didn't hear any hissing of any kind, and contrary to my findings the car has no loss of power or any type of trouble idling.

Turns out that it was one of the assholes in my school that pulled a vaccum line and thats what made it throw a code. It was the small one from the intake manifold into the side of the air filter box. Pluged it in and the light went right off.

Yep, asking others to solve your problems is always cheaper than learning to read and solve your own. All I can say is that I'm glad I didn't go through life depending on others and glad I taught my kids to do the same.
