camry 2005 oem stereo amplifier

Hi,
I have a 2005 camry with the oem 6 speaker stereo system. I was wondering if this system comes with an amplifier and if so, where it is and how I get it out to replace it?
Thanks in advance,
Jim

if it doesn't say JBL anywhere on the radio, you don't have an amplifier.

every radio has an amplifier. if you don't have the factory jbl sound system then your amplifier is built into the head unit itself. your best bet is to find a replacement head unit on ebay or a local salvage yard.

jbl factory stereo

Thanks for the info. Actually I do have the JBL factory stereo. I was thinking that if the amplifier was separate, I'd replace it and then be able to power the new rear 6x9 speakers.

the OEM amplifier isnt really something you replace. It is integrated into the OEM head unit along with the speakers. It is not the same as if you wanted to switch out an aftermarket amp for another.
