5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I am sure some of you have already seen the video posted below. But does anyone know what kind of modifications this guy has done to his camry to run a 13.8 sec quarter mile? I tried some different searches and didn't come up with anything. If it is just intake and exhaust that is good to know.

He has some more than a simple exhaust like most people. He has actually gone to the effort of modifying the front y-pipe merge which is thought to be a restriction in the exhaust. As well, he may or may not have tweaked the ECU which is a secret. Original postings here:
For performance upgrades all I've bolted on is a K&N cold air intake. I've added my own custom y-pipe (have you looked at how restrictive the factory one is). The tune is is just between me, a couple of Toyota master techs, and a friend at TRD...My wife is going to Maine and leaving the car with me for a few weeks. I'm thinking about pulling off the cylinder heads and doing some port and bowl work...I sure wish I had ordered traction control!
that y pipe is really restrictive. one guy on the aussie forums removed his cats from the headers and corrected the y pipe and dynoed at 240whp with an intake... thats about 30-40whp over stock... now just imagine if the headers where actually redesigned to flow better rather then just cutting the cats off...
these V6 Camrys have some serious potential it just buggs the heck out of me that there is ZERO aftermarket support for it.
i bet with proper aftermarket headers, full exhaust with corrected y pipe, intake and light weight pulleys these cars could put down some serious 1/4 mile times
someone needs to get a manufacturer to make us headers, y pipes and light weight pulleys!

Care to point out this guy you are referring to?
The most that an N/A Aurion has dyno'ed here is 212whp, and that's with the y-pipe modification, K&N intake, and third cat removed. Figures of around 240whp are in line with the TRD Aurion which has a supercharger.
1.) I prefaced the thread saying most of you had probably already seen this.
2.) I told everyone that I searched for information on this vehicle using the search function and some of the terms I used.
3.) If its that popular it should be a sticky.
4.) If it bothers you all that much the mods can just delete the thread.
