Gen6 Need help to install 10 in self amplified SAS Bass Tube

I plan to get one.
I have 2009 camry LE.
I will keep my factory head unit then I will just add
bass tube for base.
What kind of bass tude should I use(brand)?
Which Watt? 200W? what ohm? 4ohm? 8ohm?
Do I have to buy wiring kit?
What do I have to do to install bass tube?
I don't have any idea. I am searching it but could not find for installaion of bass tube.
How did you do to install it with keeping factory head unit?
Youguys response is gonna be really helpful for me.
Thank you.

Slow down turbo...

To keep your factory head unit, you will need a 'line out converter'. It is up to you on which tube you want to go with...how much punch you want will determine how many watts you want to go with. The higher in wattage, the higher the punch. If the tube is not amplified already, you will need an amplifier to handle the watts needed to feed the tube. If you get a 400 watt RMS tube, don't get an amp lower than 400 watts. (at the minimum), It is always better to over power the speakers than to under power them.

You will also need an amp wiring kit even if the tube is amplified or not.

Since you are just learning about this stuff, I would reccommend you have your local audio shop do the work for you. They will probably charge about $30 to $40 an hour for labor...for your job, you are looking at about an hour / hour and a half tops.

Good luck.

I strongly recommend NOT buying any of those SAS tube things. I foolishly bought a 100W RMS tube like 5 years ago for my old car and it's been the most pathetic subwoofer product I've ever heard and owned.

If you want a proper power subwoofer, get an Infinity Basslink II. I had the Basslink I in my old Echo. That was a 10" 200W RMS / 400W Peak sub with a lot of punch.

Now in my Camry I use the Basslink II which is an upgraded 250W RMS / 500W Peak 10" sub. If you don't want to deal with a separate amp and large sub box, trust me the Basslink II is the sub to get.

+1. There are definitely far more superior products than a bass tube. It all depends on your budget....even if you don't have enough money now, save instead of wasting it on a tube.

If you are set on getting a tube though SAS is a particular kind. It comes as a set so you can justpower it up, sub already installed no choosing and yes they even sell self powered ones so you dont have to buy a seperate amp. You can just get a hi/lo converter and tap it into the rear speakers and run power from the engine. Like above said though can get much better sound and still save space if you piece something together.Someone is selling a FG box in the sale section that fits into the corner pocket of the trunk.

Also piecing a system together gives you room to grow. One sub now upgrade to 2 later on and so forth even with the Amp. Have fun choosing.I would recommend visiting audio forums for advise on setups.

how about the JL Stealthbox for the Camry so you maximize trunk space. You would still need to purchase an amplifier and installation kit.

JL Stealthbox

Sure it looks nice and all but the subwoofer driver is not a very impressive one, you don't get an amplifier, and it costs a friggin $650. By the time you add a decent mono amp, wiring and installation, you've broken past $1000.

That's a total waste!

Get a Basslink II. Have it installed and you'll still be within $500 and it won't sound any worse.

I have a Basslink II and it can be very picky.
At first I had it hook-up to the rear speakers for the signal (per the manual) and the auto turn-on feature enable and it seems to worked fine with the key in the acc/on postion. But the trouble began after the car is started. The darn thing would mysteriously cut out and no more Basslink! After much hair pulling, I finally went and got a LOC to convert the high speakers signal to the low level and also ran the REM turn on lead to a constant +12V to power it on. The only thing now is that once it's powered on it will stay on regardless if the radio is turned on/off. This might not be a desirable thing if you want it to turn on and off with the factory radio. If you get the Basslink II you might run into similar problems. However, ater I got it to work I am satisfied with it.

The box came painted, ironically the color almost matched the Magnetic Grey of the vehicle.I covered it with some carpet to intergrate better with the trunk. The sub was not included,it's a Image Dynamic IDQ v2 dual 4ohms.If going to do something like this u must pick a driver which performs well in this size enclosure. Here is the b4 & after...

What kind of bass tude should I use(brand)? Personal preference
Which Watt? 200W? what ohm? 4ohm? 8ohm? Personal preference, the different ohm's shouldnt really matter to you since its self powered.
Do I have to buy wiring kit? Yes
What do I have to do to install bass tube? At the least, I would say. pwr, ground, remote, and either adding a line out converter or the basstube will have a built in line input on the amp
I don't have any idea. I am searching it but could not find for installaion of bass tube. +12v from battery, -12v = ground, remote = 12v accessory line should work. And RCA's from either lineoutput converter, or just hooking up the speaker wire leads to the line input.(if offered)
How did you do to install it with keeping factory head unit? Very carefully
Youguys response is gonna be really helpful for me.
Thank you.
