Gen6 Anyone try V-HIDs?

Hey guys. I was just wondering if anyone has tried the V-HID's from ww.v-leds.com. Specifically the $99 one. I'm planning to install this on my Camry later this week. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

here is the set on DDM i paid under $100 and got 2 full sets with shipping.

http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p...=102&parent=85

i wanted to have a extra set of bulbs as backup and got 4300k and 5000k and it was $30 for the regular ballast and $50 for slim. I used the slim for install and it was extremely easy the temp outside was 27 degrees and it took me about 20 minutes to install with zipties to secure and it was getting dark around sunset after work.

The slim ballast tucks in nicely for the driver side in between the ecu and the fusebox and and a good cable with split loom to zip tie it to. the passenger side tucks in between the coolant overflow and the abs and you can zip tie it to the abs steel lines. The ballast are very small and light and do not get in the way at all. The power plug is plug n play and no splicing or harness needed since draw at power up is only 6 amps and when warmed up is 3.4 amps and 35w is less than stock which is 55w. i have used ddm in my crossfire for the 55watt kit and loved it and this time i went with 4500k in the slim and it is perfect white with a plenty of color in the cutoff and you can see the blue and purple and get the most light possible.

OMG I got jipped! LOL I just bought these V-HIDs on Thursday but the DDMs you guys are recommending me sound way better. The one that I bought doesn't even have a digital ballast. I think I might just sell the one's I get from V-LEDs and buy these.

Just out of curiosity, is there anybody who did buy the V-HIDs? I'm probably not going to get a response...

if you can sell yours and break even go for it but if it is a big hassle then do not worry about it and just use them you will benefit more from them than saving 30 bucks the hid are worth it. DDM has awesome products and awesome prices and customer service to back it up. I am sure you will be fine with the $100 versus the $150 v-led kit i think most ballast now are digital and no worries on that.

Thanks Faiz23. I appreciate the advice. Do you know the difference between a digital and non-digital ballast?

Digital HID (DHID) ballasts

A digital HID (DHID) lamp ballast is an electronic ballast that uses a microprocessor to control and regulate a High-Intensity Discharge (HID) lamp. The firmware can provide control algorithms to supply varying lamp currents during start-up and during lamp operation. The firmware controls the initial voltage strike to the bulb to start it and then controls current in the bulb for the most efficient burning of the lamp.[citation needed]
The main benfits of the Digital HID ballast are: saving of electrical energy and maintenance costs over magnetic ballast HID lamps; automatic loss-of-lumen compensation as the lamp ages; produces up to 40% more lumens per watt than magnetic ballasts; increased life expectancy of the lamp compared to magnetic ballast; DHID ballast generates less heat, reducing air conditioning energy cost; 50% dimming of incoming power produces additional cost savings, with automatically controlled lamp dimming in unoccupied areas.[citation needed]
DHID ballasts can be used to upgrade existing lamp installations. In a retrofit, the DHID ballast can replace the existing magnetic ballast. The rest of the fixture is reused, and the magnetic ballast can be recycled

ebay guide

The days of the old humming, magnetic core&coil-type HID Ballasts have come to an end. The Digital (electronic) Ballast is the latest in HID Ballast innovation. The Digital Ballasts are more efficient, quieter, cooler and softer/easier on the HID bulb all the while allowing for a much smaller and neater package.
The Digital Ballasts do not have any of the usual transformers or capacitors; instead these ballasts have electronic circuitry doing the same job, only much more efficiently using significantly less current. The Digital Ballast have the capability of self diagnostic and reset, including specific protection circuits to detect various lamp-and ballast-fault conditions allowing to safely shutdown or reset the ballast. When the ballast fires the HID bulb it sends full power to the cold HID bulb. Over time, this shortens the HID bulb life and reduces the output and life span of the increases the power over the next few seconds until the HID bulb has reached full brightness. This is also known as soft starting, which minimizes the damage to the HID bulb and increases its life. After one year of use the usable light coming from HID bulb being used in the coil type ballast would have lost over 10% more usable light over the same period of time.

i honestly think your ballast is digital and V-led is a marketing scamming company lol. THe ballast for $99 is slim with external igniter like many new hid ballast that are digital i think most hid ballast now days are digital. I think the 150 gets you a 2 yr warranty, laser engraving and some mounting brackets and oh yeah bragging rights since it says digital ballast. You will be fine with any ballast honestly all of them come from one of the 2 or 3 hid factories in china or asia and are rebranded for wholesalers. Just stick with what you have and you will be fine. DDM tuning is like 65 shipped and yours was $100 but add 15% restock and return shipping and time wasted no point. Just next time you need hid or bulbs or parts stick with DDM.

Thanks a lot!

I actually got these on sale for $80 bucks so I think the $15 difference isn't really so bad. I really do appreciate it. Thanks again.
