Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have 2 question the first one is i drive a 2002 camry 2.4L 5 speed manual and i was wonder what would be the best air intake for the car the only one ive really seen is the K&N typhoon, secondly i am also lookin for a muffler and not to sure which ones are good but not sure which one will fit and don't want it overly loud.
Intakes: There is no best as they all pretty much suck and you won't get any real power gains from any of them, just a better toucjier throttle response. I liked the Injen one personally.
Exhaust: Too many to choose, but the TRD is a popular option.
I'll probably go K&N with the intake cause repco down the road have them but with the exhaust do all unversal ones fit cause somone said they might not fit
That sounds really good but probably way too expensive so any universal muffler should fit or is there a certain inlet size i need i haven't got that much money so i don't want to get one that doesn't fit cause then im stuck
You've got a Sportivo bud, it has the Australian intake and airbox. None of the US kits will fit and there is literally nothing available in Aus. You might find a K&N drop in filter element, or you can botch in a generic pod filter. Not really worth the effort.
For the exhaust again - forget the TRD exhaust. Isn't available here, won't fit. Speak to an exhaust shop about fabricating something with some nice mufflers, perhaps a Magnaflow or Remus ($).
Just make holes in your intake box(not sure how its called) make sure to make the holes only in the peice thats screwed into the car under the air filter not on top of it. Since that air coming in will still get filtered. Simply take it out and do some holes. You will get same sound as an intake and power since intake doesnt really give u anything other than sound when you rev it and looks. I had that done until I can afford my k&n intake that cost about 400 dollars since I dont think theres other for a camry other than injen and k&n. I basicly got it for the looks when you pop the hood. But I dont think it should cost more than 50 dollars since it doesnt offer much.
