Warm up car without worry...........

My cousin just found out something i think its really cool., its that if u want to warn up yur car n leave the car. u know u cant lock the car with the running. So my cousin try this n it work, this is a good way for pp live in the cold n dont have to worry about the car get stolen. Here is a way to lock yur car from the outside

1-Start the car(adjust the temp,whatever,radio...)
2-Take yur spare key(which normal we get 3totals)
3-Lock it from the outside using the spare key into the lock, which mean using yur key locking put into the KEY HOLE(old fashion way) not pushing the button(bc pushing the button wont work i tried)
4-Now yur car is lock, running n getting warn no worry that pp will stole yur car or wait to watching yur car.
5-Now use that key to unlock yur car n get to where u wanna go
6-Enjoy n the warm up car-i like

I did that before, the manual key lock doesn't seem to trigger the "unlock". But I got tired of it cause I have to carry 2 fat keys.

But for the keyless, this might be a good idea.

Thanks. I suggest we leave this as is. We do not need to clutter the STICKY section but will please this in the general sticky thread.

Although door is locked, if someone really wanted to steal your car and sees the key in the ignition, they'll break your window and drive off.

However this would do me no good for me as I have a custom keyhole plug and remote start.

I agree.. a thief can and will just break the window and take it if they really want it. The best way to get around this is to just get a remote start. Also, 99% of all remote starts will even let you remote start it while the car is running. Example: I pull into the local mini-mart. I hit the remote start while it is running. I can then take the key out of the ignition and the car will stay running. Run into the store, buy my *insert "My wife desperately needs this" item*, and hop back into the car without ever turning it off. Car stays nice and warm.

might as well leave your car unlocked. because when if you recover the car one less item needs to be replaced. the window.

remote start is highly recommended.

Not only that but you also wasted gas. With gas prices we currently have I only use my remote start in the morning to warm up my car since its been all night in the cold. However I dont think car goes back to Cold in less than an hour while your getting some groceries. It might get cold inside but as soon as you turn your heat back on it will throw out warm air since it hasnt been that long.

i usually dont warm up my car besides letting it sit for a minute or so and then turning on the heated seats and going. but i do have a awesome alternative solution to remote start.... send someone outside, have them start it, and then lock the door. pretty much same as remote start

I don't know why anyone hasn't mentioned it before... but at least in my state, leaving a car running and unattended is illegal.

Should be closed.
