Tire pressure monitor "reset"

I'm not excited about changing oil when it's below freezing, so I took my car out to get oil changed this weekend. I've seen a few people on here talk about using Walmart, so I decided to try them.

Quick summary: I won't get going there again. No one speaks English as a primary language, and they took over 1.5 hours to do an oil change and tire rotation.

But on to my primary issue. They charge $2.50/tire for tire rotation - $10 total. Which is fine; it's $10 cheaper than Jiffy Lube. But when they rang me up I found a $5/tire "TPM reset" charge. They say the tire pressure monitor has to be reset when tires are rotated. I attempted to explain that that made no logical sense: as far as I know, the device in the tire is simply broadcasting a unique ID programmed into the sensor ( so that the system only listens to your tires and not the tires on the Camry next to you) and a tire pressure.

I've rotated my own tires; I also had Jiffy Lube do it a couple of times when my wife finds coupons and I'm feeling lazy. I've never heard of this. I have found that there is some kind of reset button in the glove box, but I haven't found any docs saying this needs to be pressed after a rotation.

This $20 charge seems like B.S. to me. Am I wrong?

I have never had to reset and I change and rotate tires 2x/year.

Rotated the tires on my 07 Camry myself recently, and didn't have to reset the TPMS either.

When you open your glove box, the reset button should be to the left on the side, you really can't miss it (from what I remember?). Go back and ask them how they charge you $20 for click a switching, make them give you the money back or pump your fuel tank with 93 Octane.

Was your glovebox locked by chance since that is where the reset button is?

Read your owners manual and learn the sequence for resetting the tpms.
Go back there and ask for the top dog manager and drill him on what they did and then explain that it is not necessary to reset unless you are changing the actual set point of the tpms but not when just bringing the tire back to correct pressure.
Then ask for a refund of this BS charge.

While you are there, ask if they charge extra to change the air in the headlights.
