5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm finally ready to get down to business with my camry as I havn't done anything to it in a while. I got $1000-1200 to spend but just don't know what I should get or what would be the best bang for my buck...I have rims/wheels so that's not really a necessity, and have already tinted the windows...I came up with a short list (non-specific) of things that are most commonly done:
-CAI
-Navi
-HID's
-Exhaust
Didn't mention suspension since H&R's are on the way...
For the $1000, you can get majority of the things you listed.
HIDS - $100-$150
Exhaust - $200-600 (depending how much you do such as new piping or just replacing muffler)
CAI - $150-200
NAVI - $400-500 if you get the EONON
Only you can decide which is more important to you. Its your car, your needs.
Easy and enjoyable way to spend $1K, GAS. LOL Floor it and REALLY drive the car. Just watch out for cops.
If I had a V6 that just might be an idea...

With the exhaust I'd probably want to do it all...is something you can do yourself? Gotta think about labor costs if any
I'm a little wary about the Eonon...seems TOO cheap to me, and I don't want to deal with a crappy unit
id get a navi for the car... you can find them on ebay for pretty cheap they are around $400 shipped with the GPS and they look stock they seem to work really well. there are quite a few happy people on this forum with them. its deff gonna be one of my first upgrades.
i wouldn't really go with anything to much for performance for your car as you have the I4... but if your looking for a nice sound out of your car i know companies like megan make a nice full catback for around $400
so yeah navi and catback and your still under your $1000 budget
good luck my friend

How about a booster pack to jump start the car and stuff?
In this winter storm, my house lost power and I had to use my booster pack to power a few stuff. It have the inverter on there. It have light too, so great for emergency.

I think Navi is a good choice, I'm going to see if I can get a stock camry navi off ebay...still don't trust the off labels

The exhaust is not something you can do unless you know how to weld and have the tools to do it as well as a mandel bending machine. The price I listed $600 is the price of labor to have it done plus the costs of pipes and exhaust.
All the prices I listed are estimated. It could be less or more depending on what shops you go to and how you shop around.
Why not save it!!!!! Or invest it. Or you could just go nuts and buy $1000 worth of $30 scratch offs. You will probably make back your money plus a lil bit actually.
Or just give it to me, selling Toyota's for a living right now is a little rough!

That's my advice as well. Just put it in an IRA or something, I'm sure you'll be much happier in the long run when you get your money back plus some.
I know I wish I hadn't spent all my money on my car.

eh in this economy you would be lucky to get a rate that would even beat inflation... its honestly not worth investing money into things like that these days
btw the off brands are actually not to bad with the navi units... just do a search on this forum for more info about them

i'd rather be able to get my money back then just have a loss no matter what. put anything on your car, and that money is gone for good haha...
