2002 Camry Upper dogbone mount

Hi,

I took my 2002 Camry for Safety inspection today at a Sunoco station and they diagnosed that the Upper dogbone mount has a crack. They said the part would cost $173 + $40 (labour). Is this reasonable ?

Can I get this part at a reasonable price at any store or website?

Please help.

Thanks.

Here is what I do to find a good estimate on a part (the same can be said for the labor) I start out calling the dealership. Sometimes they can give me info the NAPA's (no direct slam on NAPA) of the world don't give. After getting the factory (so to speak) estimate, then shop around get little bits and pieces of info from everybody you talk to. Then it comes down to who was the most informitive, (this usually shows knowledge of the product or knowledge of the task at hand) and who do you dare to trust your car with.. WHEN YOU FIND A MECHANIC YOU CAN TRUST, KEEP EM AN EXPENSIVE GOOD MECHANIC BEATS A CHEAP BAD MECHANIC HANDS DOWN EVERYTIME.. Just a point of reference I did the dog bone on a 96 Avalon with nothing more than a socket wrench and 15 minutes time and that was the first dogbone I've ever done.. On a difficulty scale its a .5 or maybe a 1 (VERY EASY JOB on a 96 Avalon). Please excuse the long post..

$173 + $40 sounds a bit steep. Does it look like this?

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1015554

It's between $42-52 +shipping on rockauto. They call it "torque strut" or torque strut mount. However, you can probably find similar prices at many online Toyota dealers. If so just get the dealer part. I prefer OEM engine mounts, but for dogbone I don't mind using Beck Arnley or even Anchor (usually faster from local parts stores).

If dogbone's gone, you should check the engine mounts too. You might want to change them all out above 100K miles.

i brought the dog mount at toyota for only 68 dollar, took 10min to replace it.

for some reason their website is not working, but your local dealer should have it.
