Headlight Question/Black Housing

Hey TN,
I just got back from Vietnam helping my pops with his business over there. So for the past month, my little bro has been driving my car(09 camry le). I told my mom not to let him drive it, but hes a spoiled brat. Anyway, he changed my hid kit to a 12k hid kit........
So as i was about to change it back to my old setup, i see that on the passenger side headlight, he did not put the bulb all the way in. The part where the bulb goes in( the hole with 3 notches ) at the top, it is melted into the bulb. I managed to get the bulb off, but there is no way i can put in a new bulb. I think i have two choices, but not quite sure. Either get a new headlight off ebay, or would i be able to do a retrofit? Opinions are welcomed!! Help me out please. And i can't believe my bro is that dumb and he changed it to purple!! WHY PURPLE??

He probably saw fast and furious that day.

Even if you do a retrofit, you can't put the bulb in, because that doesn't get changed when you do a retrofit. There might be a way for you to make a custom bulb mount from a piece of sheet metal and seal it real good, but idk if you would rather do that or buy a new headlight.

Hahhaha tell me about it. I would have been less mad if it was yellow. But it had to be purple.

So for the retrofit, even if i get a TSX retro done or something, dont they use a different bulb so i would have a totally different housing for the bulb?

if u do a retro then you change out the projector. the new projector will use d2s or d4s(solara). so your hid kit bulbs would go in garbage pretty much. you can get amps to d2s adapter(around 15 bucks) and use your hid kit ballasts. just make sure they run on a harness. if u want to do a retro then buy a set of headlights and i have a set of maxima 09 projectors that i have marked where original holes are and can drill for you. this would make them a direct swap like the mdx or solaras. or if your not brave then if u provide the headlights i can do everything for u for 350 including the projectors(200 for the labor and 150 for the projectors).

When you do a retrofit, you still use the same bulb H11. The thing you change when you do retrofits, is the projector housing and everything that comes with it. Plus some custom work to make it fit. But the bulb still goes in the same place.

Actually, if he retrofits he can put a bulb. If its plug and play no because he's using H11. For my TSX retrofit, my D2S has its own way of being inserted. I have to take a closer look. I dont remember. Pawel can chime in. If not, OP can look at retrofit threads and see how it looks like for himself.

Shit you're right, i forgot they use D2S bulbs. Brainfart i guess. But if his housing is melted, i don't know if any bulb could fit and still be sealed properly. It's gonna look like a hack job.

yeah i was looking at Glenn's TSX retrofit. I was going to toss my kit if i were to do a retrofit. I just figured that since my headlight is already messed up, it would be a good time for a retrofit. Pawel, how are the maxima projectors? Do they look good? I'm too scared to do them myself, so I might have to take up your offer.

He does good work, and i think it's worth it to just do the retrofit, you have a good reason at least.

mdx projectors are almost identical to the mdxs with exception of the holes being in a different spot. so u can check glenn's mdx thread and will know. the mdxs and the whole rx non afs series are much better than tsx. tsx are low end pretty much for hids. the mdxs and maxima if someone where up for being a custom shield then they can have that nice wide streak of light like the s2ks which are know for being ultra wide. in stock form they are already good.

yes any hid projector will use d1s, d2s, d3s, d4s.

if u guys think i do good work then wait till you see my fx-r and mdx retros in a few days. the fx-r i'm sure will make a few people's mouth water since they bi-xenon(high and low).

Well if the H11 bulb won't go into the stock halogen project housing, if you do a retrofit to an HID projector, you should have no issues fitting the new D2S bulb. Maybe its just me, but I don't see a reason why you need to buy a new headlamp.

Bad upside down picture, but heres mine:
