Anyone use a full size spare as their backup?

I was wondering if anyone uses a full size spare? Will it even fit? 17" SE is what I'm asking about.

From what I remember, full size spare will not fit the donut. It sticks up

Fullsize spare
'07 Camry Temporary Spare Tire

It seems Canada can fit a full size spare but US cars has it sticking up a little

+1 You are correct. When I had a set of SE from GT-R, I tried but the SE rims is thicker.

Thankfully, my Previa has a full-size spare (but with AWD, it's pretty much a necessity). My Corolla, though, has a donut spare. I hate it.

One thing that you are supposed to do (but almost nobody does) is make sure you put the donut spare on the rear axle only. This means that if you get a flat on the front axle, you should move a wheel from the rear axle to the front and put the donut on the rear.

Granted, this is a huge pain, but having a donut on the front axle seriously messes with your steering-- and it gets worse in the rain and snow, since the front axle is typically the driven one on 'modern cars'.

What are you guys talking about?!

My 2007 SE V6 came with a full-size spare tire with matching SE 17" wheel. Nothing sticks up at all - it's made to fit under your trunk bed.

What is this that I am reading of people saying it sticks up half an inch? That is not true at all. Do US cars have a different trunk then?
