Gen5 2003 4cyl 2.4 Trouble with Throttle Body Cleaning / Seafoaming

Hello all,

2003 Camry Gen 5
4cyl. 2.4L
100K miles

Objective: Smooth out rough idle, increase throttle response, general maintenance.

I've looked at several of the threads on TB cleaning and seafoaming. I changed my air filter and was ready to clean the TB and do the seafoam. However, the pics and write-ups I saw in the forums didn't match what I saw under my hood.

Throttle Body Access - I thought the TB would be easy to access but it looks like it's much further down (below the cylinder head) and at an 45 degree upward angle (different from what I saw on the Gen 4 or Gen 5 V6). I took off the air box and was hoping that would be the TB but it was just the air tube that led to the MAF (i guess) and the TB much further down. (white arrow).

Question 1: Where exactly is the TB and what do I have to do to get to it? Any DIY pictures of the Gen 5 2.4L would greatly help.

Seafoming - The red arrow points to a hose that connects to a sensor on the air tube and then leads to what I assume is the TB.
Question 2: Which hose is it? Is this the hose that I disconnect and feed the seafoam?

I cannot help you with TB, but for seafoam disconnect a vacuum hose that goes to brake booster. This is about half of the picture to the left from your white arrow. Easy to access and you have enough room for the jar with seafoam.

I hope this helps,

Sam

TB is way down below that white arrow. You will have to disconnect the large diameter hose (held on by a fairly stiff hose clamp) that your white arrow is pointing to to reach the TB.

Correct, your red arrow is pointing at the house you disconnect to feed the seafoam in behind the TB. Disconnect at the vacuum switching valve where your arrow is pointing.
