Question Roof Dent on 2002 Camry, How much to Repair?

During the huge snowstorm I think a piece of ice made a big Roof Dent on my 2002 Camry SE. I was wondering how much do you think this will cost to repair? How long will it take? The only damaged area is on the Roof, the doorskins aren't damage and the sunroof isn't damaged.

I have no clue how much it would cost, but it looks to me that it would be poppable.

x2 take the headliner off and try and pop it.. worst case scenario is that it doesnt work and you are back where you are now.

Please tell us the truth on what really happened? That dent is too symmetrical to be caused by a piece of ice.

We won't judge.

Body shop will probably suggest you junk/total out the car. Roof dents are had to pop out where the roof will look like it did pre dent, plus it will be expensive. You can either live with the dent and drive the car if it is safe, or total/junk it, Sorry.

If the frame around the roof is not damaged they won't total the car. Buy yeah repairing a car's roof is very expensive.

That doesnt warrant a junk or total. It did not damage the frame of the car. The roof dent is like any door dent or bumper dent. If the shop is experienced they'll get it back to normal.

wow. I wouldn't say the damage looks that bad.... in fact not even close to it.

Cheap DIY fix:
Take your headliner out and pop the dent out. Apply some type of panel bond adhesive on the cross rails (supports) to the roof panel to re-join the two (they are likely separated).

Fix:
Take it to a body shop for an estimate. Do you have full coverage on your insurance? Is your deductible $1,000 or less? Run it through insurance and get it fixed right.

Roof dents aren't really that big of a deal.

True, but they're going to charge a lot. Also they would have to offer a warranty, which many won't do for this type of repair.

Maybe, but remember the fixed roof would have to be able to sustain when the car would hit potholes, and weather without caving in, hence the high cost. If he goes through insurance, they may just right off the car, especially if the repair is more than the car is worth.
